gil isn't real and just a digital point system. We do not work jobs to earn it. Nor invest in backs to hold on to it. Infact we pawn items we earn to each other or to npc to earn said gil. (or do levequests were gil is a reward) But we do not work 8+ hour jobs to earn money to spend. And infact we do not need to spend gil on stuff between players. And can trade items between each other. Like say your looking for a sword and are selling an item to buy said sword. I come along with this sword and can trade it to you for the weapon your selling. You can no longer do this in real life since money is now the current barter system. (unless you go to a pawn shop)

trading items for items is the same as trading gil for items

so your point is still moot

everything has a value, and money is just an interperetation of value

that is what I said.... your statement was sounding more like real life where money has more value over items.
