    Solid state drives don't spin. As far as speed goes it will be a substantial increase.

    Aren't ssds sata III? Last I heard, ps3 didn't support sata III so you would still be bottlenecked by that no matter how fast your ssd/ hd was.

    Sata 3 is backwards compatible not to mention you can get sata 2 ssd's more times than not you will never have enough throughput to fully populate Sata 3 unless you are transferring larger files. Ssd has that advantage of flash memory and can pull the data you want to load faster
