Because 70% of your market share's release date is less important than your home country's. If that were the case, they would not have bended knee to the notorious Tuesday release scheming that America has had for the last few years.

And when exactly did they "bend knee"? They simply released on tuesday games that had an independent release date in the US. This one will not.

PS: america doesn't constitute the 70% of the market share of the FInal Fantasy franchise, it doesn't even get near to the 30%.

Which one? XIV? It was released on a Tuesday already? At least the CE. Or are you taking the date from the website as fact now?

As for market share, I didn't say Final Fantasy. I was referring to video games, although 70% was still slightly high estimate. The top selling game for this week in NA sold about 550k copies. The top selling game in Japan for reference sold 57k. Europe does have some pull, clearly, as well.

Added trivia, where did XIV sell the most copies?

Basically, this news statement has no source and has no precedence to back it up. Timing wise, I think it's fine, this is another 3 patches away. If no official word by this time WED, I'd put this rumor to bed as just that.

What is says is basically that (quoting Wada as a source) the PS3 release of Final Fantasy XIV will be on August the 18th, and together with it the monthly fees will be restored for the PC version, given that the content will have reached satisfactory levels.

Now, lemme reiterate this (if the topic was not enough): this is a completely unconfirmed rumor, and it gives no link as a source.
Though, this isn't exactly a random blog of a random chinese, as 17173.com is one of the biggest MMO networks in China (you can compare it to Zam), and SE considered them relevant enough to let them have an interview with Yoshida that they published last month (it actually includes a couple interesting tidbits, like further mentions of PvP).

While I would be definitely surprised to see the PS3 version THAT early, i thought I'd report it and let people believe what they will

Anyway, granted I feel this 'information' is just rumor, being posted on the site might have some relevance on XIV's progress. My point has been that starting a thread based on unconfirmed information, on top of the fact that its in a different language, doesn't contribute anything to the overall discussion of the game. Everything is just rumors and speculation, and that just feeds more ignorance and misinformation. Threads like this devolve into multiple subjective and useless posts arguing about east vs west MMO, QQing about lack of content, Yoshi-P vs Tanaka, or WoW clone nonsense.

As Ash said, there are somethings that kind of make sense if it were true, and some things that don't. But that is completely irrelevant because it is all baseless. We know the free trial can't last forever, but wait until there is an official announcement. I'd think that these forums would be for more constructive topics like suggestions for meaningful content/changes or strategy discussions.

Nice find there!, depending on June's update I may not pay. Though when you think about it. Yoshi's post said that list will all be done by the end of Summer, End of August is the end of Summer, so in some sense (just my personal guess) that satisfactory content = everything in Yoshi's post, so the question is: if everything in that list is complete, would you pay for the game?

I personally wouldn't if I didn't have a lot of money free but I am fortunate enough to have a lot of spare cash and can Pay for the game just to keep my account active. But I would not say that list is satisfactory content for me. Though if some other games I have my eye on come out around the same time then I will leave XIV until further content.

But would it be satisfactory for new players or launch worthy? I think that is what they are aiming for, enough content to justify a monthly sub to someone just starting out. I could see August as the PS3 and monthly sub implementation.
