I suggest you look up the definition of frankness. It is not the same as rudeness. I don't know Kitru aside from the posts he/she makes. I perceive him/her as a strong opinionated person (hence the frankness of his/her posts). I do not consider this person rude, though.

Someone with constructive argument shouldn't sound rude/cruel at all, thats all I am saying. Also, in england we've a saying "Less is more." I guess we can also apply that to Kitru right.

***I am sorry but I disgree, its quite easy to open your mouth wild & call on other from behind a screen on a forum. This is not about sugar coating or teaching anyone else anything. I don't think someone who need to look rude to win an argument has anything valuable to teach in the 1st place.

Now accept it or not, saying to someone that their ideas are rubbish, IS rude.

Standing for oneself is something vital to do, however, standing for oneself in a confrontational way is not the solution.
You will be more inclined to listen to someone who is being clear with you, but also respectful in the same way. Anyway, you're so bright you knew this already, didn't you?

That difference is Kitru's frankness of his/her opninion. Being the internet, you can't hear the inflection/vocalization the context. You are the one interpreting rudeness. About the only time I see some actual rudeness to borderline hostility from Kitru is when going back and forth with Gamemako in certain thread.

Now this is being ridiculous, I just pointed out the self contradiction of one of his numerous self contradicting posts.
There is absolutely no need to hear or imagin it, you just need to read what is said, and which words are used. The choice of words make up for the impossibility to be heard. This is why I said what you quoted so well.

"I disagree with you for X reason" = respectful conversation sharing points of view.
"What you say is rubbish" = This phrase is confrontational from the begining, it wont give a nice impression because even if the person say it with a lolipop voice it still mean what it mean. Whatever how much you want to defend Kitru, its wrong.

Also, you talk about being on the internet, being on the internet you can't hear yourself either. I wonder how many people here with a big mouth would keep talking like this in front of someone else without the fear of getting a big smack in the face?

This can maybe "apply" to the net and maybe you think its acceptable (I don't), but now use this same logic outside just to see, go to some random ppl and tell them that their opinion is rubbish. Same rule apply here & outside as you don't know the person. Then come back here please, and tell us about your experience.

I say "please" just to show you the difference it make, as if I was using (!) instead it would look like an order.

You can't even remain calm discussing a view point. Your entire quoted post is nothing but aggressive assertions and demeaning one's education level. By your own reasoning, you would be up for a "big smack in the face". Whether your or others believe Kitru is rude is open to your own interpretation of the contex. Your own context quoted above interprets yourself becoming quite hostile over a trivial thing.


Considering Kitru's post is attacking the person's argument and not the person himself, I am not under the impressiong of "what you say is rubbish" as being rude, but blunt. I do not know what you do for a living (if anything), Gandora. I'm a fully certified CPA and regularily deal with people that speak similar to Kitru's writing style. I do not believe they are rude individuals, but they are straight to the point and not afraid to voice their own points (i.e....they are frank).

I am not agressive at all. I am being totaly calm and my point are perfectly constructed. Its funny that your percept my phrasing as agressive when all I do is using the same "confontational" words choice as Kitru.

My point is totaly valid, you don't know the person you are talking to on here. Do the same in the street, depending the person you're saying that to, you can be loled at, or you can also end up saying that to someone who will be violent and attack you. you don't know their history, you don't know what they do, here its the same.

example: you go to a conference related to astrology, the professor here say anything you disagree with, you stand up and you say "I think your opinion is rubbish" I am sorry but you will sound like a rude person.

Now you get up, you interupt the said professor and you say "I disagree with you" yes you interupted him without saying "sorry" (which is rude) but still you did not invalidate their point of view by insulting it. you just state that you disagree.

The meaning of a forum like this one is to share and expose ideas, telling someone else who have good ideas that their ideas are rubbish is not being frank, its being rude. the whole "counter-arguments" thing can be applyed after.

You don't need to be a fully qualified CPA to know that, its common sens.
