Concern with Pc Players and Console Players

This whole PC only vibe is new for SE MMO's. For years we blamed PS2 folks for holding back the game graphically and such as the hardware could only support so much, but to say they shouldn't play at all?
Where the hell did this exclusionary attitude come from?

It came from the devs introducing unforgiving game mechanics where split second response times are necessary - anything getting between the user and his objective (such as poor interface that takes 1 second longer to select an ally in need of healing, and enemy in need of interuption, graphical glitches like invisible players or culled mobs) has the potential to wipe the entire party. And this isn't coming from me as some kind've hater (I'm quite happy to bring PS3 users); it's something I hear a lot from PS users themselves - they just lost aggro, or died, or attacked the wrong target; and they themselves will blame the PS3's poor interface for the error.

Obviously these limitations can be worked around, clever tricks and solutions found through macros and practice. But it's one more layer of complexity that a PS user has to deal with but PC users don't giving the PC users a slight natural advantage - and as we all know, people aiming for top performance from their pre-made team will often aim to bring only the "best" in order to minimise the other factors potential to ruin the run.

If you're on a PS, you need to have a laptop/tablet nearby to support chat if you plan on doing any group activities. Simple as that.

The issue here is not the Pc players vs console player part. I have seen both using and not using voice chat.

The issue is pro voice chat vs. those who do not use voice chat. And that has been the case for years now in the MMO world and it has not killed of anyone or made anyone feel as an outsider. This is not really as big of a problem as you are making it sound like.

As someone who mixes voice chatting with not voice chatting I can say both are viable and you can beat any content with or without it. It is pretty easy typing in whatever you want to type in in the middle of combat as it is usually only stuff like "transport mob" and "dodge that fireball" etc. etc. That you can easily type in in less than 1 sec if you can type.

The issue is more that people do not want to separate from an advantage they usually have, but that is for another post. I think we can settle this saying: Voice chat is not needed. There are those prefering it and there are those who do not. I welcome and accept both options. Out of experience of both I can say the results are almost on pair, yes w/voicechat it usually goes better, but that is more the players than the fact that they use voice chat as most h-cores prefer using voice chat while newer players do not want to dedicate themselves as much. Also, this is a non-problem. Both groups will find likeminded people to join forces with

Okay, we get you're a PC elitist from all your posts but can you just stop with this garbage that you continue to come up with already? You never have anything meaningful to say and it just makes you look like an idiot. Nobody wants to hear it either.

I don't really think PC users are really breaking away from PS3 users. I rarely see people shouting for mumble and the like. They'd just like to have a better form of communication because of how difficult some raids can be. Also, as a PS3 user that joined a mumble group for the first time last week, I now understand why they'd prefer voice chatting. It makes strategizing a lot easier. If you don't have anything you can use to voice chat but are experienced in whatever you're participating in then some groups won't mind that at all.

I find that this game is just too easy to need voice anything, the GCDs make console players on par with PC players. Twintania is easy, coil is easy, anything not coil is pathetic, this game shouldn't have to use mumble, teamspeak, etc unless you're suffering from ADHD, and other attention issues.

And if you actually think a white Mage can be carried you're dead wrong. My scholar is dpsing often due to me being able to solo heal pretty much turns 1-4. My tanks might be great but that doesn't completely mitigate bad healing, so proof is in the pudding.

IT'S SKILL. If you don't have it, use voice things so other's can help you do your job!!

My old wow guild required vent, no vent, no raid. Most wow progression raids require vent.
I dont know who you where playing with, but im sure as hell sure its wasnt a raiding guild .
I played a tank, sometimes the mt , other time the ot. Do i just stop and drop everything and start typing when its the other tanks turn to QUICKLY taunt of me?
I can Just imagine the FUN our raid group of 25 would have had trying to clear BLACK TEMPLE without vent.
Im not talking this easy game, im talking real raiding content.

Sure , usually you can see the debuff ( 9 stacks w/e ) , but under heat , viewing the whole raid, see whos doing what etc, its easy to miss a taunt, hence vent so i can press a button and say " taunt ".

My previous comment stands, obviously you have never raided hard content as vent isnt only to tell ppl what to do, but its to co ordinate stategic battle plans in the heat of battle.
Im sorry, but im calling you out saying that when it comes to hard raiding, you have no clue.

I find it funny people think if we require voice chat, we must be somehow inferior because it can be done without it. News flash, we rarely talk during fights, we only call things out when the "oh fuck" accident moment comes, and primarily use it to discuss strategy, and its always faster to talk than type.
So before you stroke your ego by saying "OH I DIDN'T USE IT SO I MUST BE BETTER", consider that we require it because it makes things easier and we want our players in your static to be social and have fun talking to each other, because its a mmo. Just because you are shy with your voice, it doesn't make you better than everyone else.
