Cloud / Sephiroth Cross-over FATE / QUEST

Usually you don't want too much cameo because they weaken the overall story, but since the story in FF14 pretty much sucks it can't really be weakened anymore. I mean it pretty much no sense that Lightning came to Eorzea anyway. Cloud and Sephiroth would at least be cooler than Lightning by far. It'd probably be best to not waste time doing stupid cameos/events in the first place, but if you must do one, it's hard to go wrong with the most recognized icons of the Final Fantasy universe.

I absolutely do not agree with this request. Lightning gets by because shehas at least a pinch of an excuse as to how she got to Eorzea; those two do not have a reason.

No thanks. I'm hoping this escapade with Lightning is something of a one-time thing and we never see another attempt at cross marketting of that level again throughout XIV's life.

If a friend of mine is an example of the mentality towards Cloud, it's because he's a soldier with a really big sword. That apparently makes him instantly awesome or something.

Because for the majority Cloud was the first Final Fantasy hero they encountered, nostalgia is a powerful thing.

As someone mentioned by quoting him, Yoshi-P himself already said a FFVII crossover will not be happening. The sole reason we've had the Lightning event is that it's simply cross-marketing for Lightning Returns: FFXIII (this is clearly mentioned on the Lodestone). The upcoming crossover events with FFXI (Shantotto event) and Dragon Quest are along similar lines, as part of anniversary celebrations for those respective games. FFVII's Compilation is complete, there's no milestone for it coming up, hence, no FFVII event.

Maybe in 2017 when the game reaches it's twentieth anniversary, but until then, don't hold your breath waiting for Cloud and Sephiroth to appear in ARR.
