Some Lalafell Blm in my FC mastered this Flare spam.. (-_-.. close to double flare every 7-10seconds. Sometimes triple Flare.
Basically have to heal with my eyes closed. I wonder if the tank is going to get any long term health effects afterwards.

If he's getting triple Flares he's either using Convert + a Hi-Ether or he's abusing a glitch lol. I don't mean double dipping, that was an intended feature.
Currently if you time it correctly you can double Flare without restoring MP in between. I guess if you were really good at it (it's a pain to pull off) you could land 6 Flares in just under 20 seconds whenever Convert and your ether was ready. It's getting fixed in 2.1 so we'll have to settle for triple Flares
Actually I'm not sure about 20 sec but you get the idea

hes doing the flare bug that will be fixxed. I dont bother with it, you can normally double flare with convert or a potion that gve 280 mp or more.
That's actually not wasteful. There's some debate about the most effective AoE rotation, but this is one of the contenders.
I.e. Blizzard 3 --> [[ Fire 3 --> Flare --> (convert+Flare if available) --> Blizzard II --> Blizzard II --> ]] Fire 3 --> etc.
is usually more effective than:
Blizzard 3 --> [[ Fire 3 --> Fire II spam until almost out of mp --> Flare --> (convert+Flare if available) --> Blizzard III --> ]] Fire 3 --> etc.
A big difference is obviously if you can be in melee or not.

Its not a gitch! It is a clever use of a value added feature!
Heli's Black Market open for business. Sells black market items for your exotic needs.
closed for business till further notice
Its not the flare bug. It is casting a flare once every 7 or 8 seconds using normal mechanics. The flare bug would be casting 2 flares once every 7 or 8 seconds.
Edit: oops, didn't realize your post was in response to the aside about another black mage, not the regular flare spam otherwise being talked about. So yes, if they're double flaring most of the time with the occasional triple flare, then that is the unintended use.

The tank was marking, we weren't speed running, and the Tank wasn't using AoE-aggro (didn't control it or try to regain aggro on mobs the BLM pulled to himself with Flare spam). Since we weren't speed running, it was rather MP wasteful to Flare at next to full Mana... I'm not saying it was a bad AoE rotation, but it was a bad roation to use with a PLD who was not Flashing the enemies to generate aggro on all.
I've got +1, Wyrm Mail and Wyrm Armet (head-piece), so With the Fending DL accesories, I was happy that I has 5000 health, but nearly die on a pitiful 4-stack of Grudge lol...

Don't understand why some PLDs don't flash. It's something you might expect in the starter dungeons before tanks learn how to, err, tank. But not in WP.

Sometimes the BRD don't give me the MP to flash. If I have to riot blade to get mp, don't blame me for losing hate.
