In most cases you can't very well force someone to skip a cutscene. They'll watch it if they want to - might miss out on a boss fight doing it, and I think there's a few spots in Prae where your cutscene can be cut short if folks decide to go on without you as well.

I imagine the new DF "roulette" option will be met with a bit more patience, at least for a bit. I'd assume most folks would be more willing to sit through a cutscene in a dungeon they haven't run 40 or 50 times already.

I'll say it again though, regardless of what you think the case "should" be, if you want free reign to enjoy the cutscenes AND the boss fights to their fullest potential you're really better off running with the FC. Might have no problem with a DF group, then again, you might.

Here is a simple solution to your problem due to lack of vote-kick feature.

    1. Join desired dungeons and watch all cutscenes at your own leisure
    2. Ignore your party members who are griefing you, just as it's not their problem you haven't seen the cutscenes, it's also not your problem that they want a faster run - double negatives cancel each other out and life is good

Odds are if there are only 1 or 2 people in the group watching cutscenes nobody in said group will leave since both story dungeons could probably be done with a 4 man pt, let alone 8.

This is what happened to me... me and my friend tried to watch the first cutscene and all hell broke lose..everyone in the party started swearing and ask me out straight if im going to watch all cutscenes... i was pretty confused cuz i didnt even imagine this would make anyone upset so i answered with an innocent yes....with smiling expression ^^ << ......... and then there was light... i set off the timed bomb... got called many names one of them is troll/noob...etc :S then realised that they want to fast run this for the tomes... sadly i couldnt ignore them and just watch cuz i am a healer and the tanks always pull so they forced me to skip them all... and till this day i dont know what happened there the clips in the inn arent complete.

soooooo yea i feel your pain my friend ^_^ but i try to rise above the kids.

Watch cutscenes anyway. If they leave the duty, they're really the only ones who'll suffer for it. Nobody's gonna miss their rude ass anyway. If you get locked out of a fight because they got impatient and ran in without you, it's a win-win situation. One, you don't have to fight and get to kick back and watch as they win for you. Or two, you get to watch them get wiped because they were impatient jerkoffs and ran in before everyone was present and prepared.

Though we didn't know it at the time, we all saw it once. When we created our characters.

Main story missions should be single player instead of Duty Finder. The way they are designed goes completely against people who would like to watch the cutscenes while they are going through them for the first time.

I'd rather have scripted story instances with NPCs, that worked like job quests do. And then if you wanted to get gear you could use the DF to group with others and run those instances again, without the cutscenes or story elements getting in the way.

That would also allow the devs to use the instances in more creative ways for both the story and farming versions of it.

But maybe that's just me, because so far I've NEVER had actual fun doing those DF instances. As evidenced by how I cringed and cursed the DF when I found out I had to queue to enter the Praetorium. Which I haven't finished yet because I don't have the patience to wait for more than half an hour to even enter the place. (Estimate wait time is always more than 1 hour)

    Yeah, screw that.

I actually like that dungeons are part of the main story. I find the main story to already be too isolated from the multiplayer and rest of the game, for the most part. If I wanted a solo-only story with NPC party members, I'd play any of the single player FFs.

As far as people running into cutscene hecklers, the best way to ensure a pleasant dungeon experience, whether that means watching cutscenes or skipping them, is to run with friends. Multiplayer and experiencing Final Fantasy with friends is what an FF MMO should be about isn't it?

Speaking as someone who has 3 50s across two different characters (Soleil Bajira, not that it matters but apparently it was pointed out that having 50s means you supposedly know more crap), this is non-sense. More often than not, 7 out of 8 on a DF team is not going to generally be using DF for speed runs. Maybe that is just your server but I'm confident when the game launched and the very first people to get into a CM/Prae DF team for -the- very first time were not stamping manners on who skipped their cutscenes to get it done quicker. SUREEEE it takes a whole hell of a lot of runs to get your gear.. put your own team together, don't use the noob tool expecting it to be a speedrun. Why in the hell would you even have that idea? Go to Rev Toll/Clone Troll and you'll find what you are looking for.

To me, when I read garbage like the Miqote spewing about being inconsiderate by watching the cutscenes, all I can really hear is "I got my shjt, feck you and yours cause I'm in a hurry."

I was lucky enough to get my first 50 when speed-runs weren't yet popular. By the 2nd and 3rd 50, people began to forget they had the chance to watch it without being told to basically "youtube" it later in the inn. I never tell people to skip their cutscene. I'm also not in a rush to gear up and QQ about how there isn't any content because I sped through everything just to sit around Clone Troll shouting for a speedrun for 3 hours like there is a endless supply of higher dungeons after Coil.

Inconsiderate of the other 7 members? LOL, that wasn't the case for the first ever 50s on each server and its not some sort of exclusive option to watch the cutscenes now that the game has been out for a few months. How many brain cells is needed to realize new players to the game, people who just bought the shjt from the store. These people are very likely to use DF, hell, they may not even know what a speedrun is.

Maybe those 45 minute ques come from lack of people wanting to deal with this type of BS. Just wait for the optioned DF where your ques will probably be even longer because most serious players already have their static team, you'll end up putting your own pug together anyway because people who aren't speed-running will have the option to not get lopped in with Clone Troll players. Anyway, enjoy the 2.1 queues with no cutscenes. I can hear it now.. "My servers dead... ques take my DPS foreversss herpderp..". My pops are instant. WHM power and I sprinkle my WHMy goodness on dungeons and let them watch their cutscenes like a fairy princess protector. Most tanks don't want to die for running off without their healer.

I think Devs should disable functionality to skip cutscenes first time youre in a dungeon.

Moreover, they should make it impossible to kick a first timer in any of the story instances.

Not always. I've found many people who play MMOs not for the social aspect, but for the amount of content these games receive over the years. Which means they will tolerate having to party with others, but if there's a chance to solo the content they will.

And I'm sort of in the middle, because while I don't mind having to party with others (and practicing my English and Japanese in the process) I most definitely mind when not having the people locks me out of the main story unless I'm willing to waste hours waiting for a PUG. A PUG that is very likely to not even allow me to enjoy the fight or the cutscenes anyway.

I mean I can understand being left out of end-game dungeons without a FC, but from the main story? That's just wrong.
