FF stole XP and leveling up from D&D. Those unoriginal hacks!

But honestly tho, your right; any new comer will have to draw from some where. And Trion just happened to draw from two of the most successful franchises in the MMO world. And expanded upon them, they practically hit the MMO scene as noobs, and came out swinging! And I fail to see how making an MMO and a SCI-fi series that run simultaneously and go hand in hand is stealing anything...thats flat out unprecedented. Were about to enter a new era in entertainment because of this.
This will re-define the word fanboy! Just you wait.

Well, 10 months, 18 months... Doesn't matter to me.

Fact is it's 2011 and not 2003 anymore. People have less and less money to spend for their hobbies and their time off.
Also expectations are a bit higher 7-8 years later. Especially because we all thought SE learned something from XI.

Now they sell me a pile of crap for my hard earned money. Of course i'm pissed. Of course most others are.
Good we have a platform here to let them know directly what we think. What should it be good for if everyone that doesn't like what he got just moved along playing something else?
Wouldn't be very constructive in my opinion. I think in this case you just can't tell them often enough.

This game fails in every aspect but graphics. And even that part is somehow lame because you need a pretty good PC if you want to enjoy it all the way without FPS going below 10.

I completely agree with the OP. The game had it's chance. Everyone was surprised it was released that early. Can't say how disappointed I am. I enjoyed XI, I really wanted to play this one, too but every fix and every add on coming has something bitter to me because it just comes too late. Maybe at the end of summer we'll have an acceptable game. But as I said, too late for me. And please don't tell me anything about it being free at this point and I shouldn't complain. It was not free, payed for it.

And the fact they said nothing about LS management (which is horrible), I can't bind my keys the way I want to (IJKL is crap for camera movement), we didn't have a real search function from start, party play/hate control is a joke, Marketwards suck, Quests are lame and repetitive, horrible server lag and all the other disappointing things really make me doubt even Yoshida and his Team can turn it into something enjoyable in the end.
Yet, we don't really know what the next patches will really look like.
Above of all that, the latest Q&A for the battle system was a really frustrating read. For the future, SE, the phrase "We'll look into that" is nothing the players like to hear.

I don't know if and when I'll log back in. Pitty, really wanted to slay stuff with my gang in a so-called next gen MMO.

sure, but only the 10% of the complains are costructive..... the 90% are useless....

Summer will be way too soon to expect anything significant. Try January as a more realistic time frame. It seems SE is spread pretty thin and is progressing slow. I think Grand Companies will have a couple weeks worth of entertainment at best...but again it will most likely be just some more unfurnished rooms. Much like the eagerly awaited "New NM's"(didnt those take months to finally come?). I was done with that in a day. It mostly seemed geared towards attracting new players and enticing people who quit at 20 to come back one more time. And sadly alot of the R30 NM gear is better than R50 counter parts.

Its all boiling down to content for me, I realize a lot of folks are upset with the interface(I do sympathize with you there), some of it can be fixed, but a lot of it is necessary so players can interact via controller. This is a fundamental principle of a multi platform title. Bottom line is you simply will never get everything you want...although you do have perfect legitimacy with wanting to assign your own keys. I cant fathom why they are so dense to some of the most basic requests.

I myself wont touch this game with the keyboard except to occasionally type with someone outside of vent. Its all controller for me, and the game is really nice to interact with. Well... aside from some agonizingly slow menu interface that is ^_^

As was said there are MMOs out there capable of releasing a finished game worldwide, and while it may not be perfect it is incredibly succesful right now. So if your excuse is really going to be that "11 was like this so its fine", please dont bother. The only mistake SE made was releasing an unfinished product. We didnt need an 18 month old game, just one that learned from its past mistakes and could release and stand on its own two feet.
All the rapidly evolving technology means is that it gets more complecated to write the code, look at 90s programming code then look at modern code, its alot more complecated, then they need to adapt the code to a veriety of differany system configurations and so on.

Yes technology is evolving fast but this makes it alot harder to make games because the games are expected to be at a certain standard.

Also human capabilities are not evolving as fast as technology, so you say its impossible to compare ffxiv and ffxi, because of the technology, but people cant work any harder or faster than they could in 2002 if anything the technology is overtaking humans in this respect

What would you think if you got a complete game, but it used the same engine as ff1, i know you would be crying because it is not up to modern standards.

Yes I agree they rushed the game out but I also think it would have done better if it was released in Japan before US and EU because when a new mmo comes out, all of a sudden everyone in the western world becomes a programming and networking pro, I have seen people complaining that its taking too long to bring the game up to standard, apparently thinking they could make a modern completed mmo in half the time, which no one seems to want to prove.

And what I quoted was when Mack said that ffxi was complete at US launch, not an ffxiv vs ffxi argument which makes your post irrelevent because it was completly off my topic

If you are going to give advice about something its generally a good idea to know what you are talking about first.

I don't see how that would make a difference. Do you think they are content with this game? They complain about it just as much as any other region in the world. I doubt that leaving Japanese players players with an empty game would have changed much, besides reducing the amount of negative feedback they received, which was well deserved for the product they shipped.

The Japanese arent content with the game, in fact they find it almost unplayable because ffxiv doesnt recognise when somthing needs to be typed in romanji, example in ffxi if they typed /tell barumaru (all i could think of) the client would change that to romanji, in ffxiv if they tried /tell baru maru in ffxiv it would say ばる まる this would not work because the name doesnt exist so they need to manually change the language to where romanji is needed.

I can also guarrentee that the Japanese forums does not come up with the same stupid ideas as the EN forums, im suprised there hasnt been a "let my miq'ote get completly naked" post yet with how stupid most suggestions are.

Oh and lets not forget the extra work and money that needs to go into localiastion for each laguage the clients support for every piece of text in the game

Of course they wouldn't post something silly like that. Why would they need to? When Japan got the early launch, I saw a stream with someone who had swapped the dats so that his Miqo'te was wearing lingerie.

Sorry but this is a non issue, there are 10's of thousands of competent translators in both Japan and foreign lands, in most cases it is fairly easy and fast work to translate especially for someone who specialises within that field.
