By stealing story concepts then yesIm pretty interested in the next MMO they are working on with the SCI fi channel. Not much to know except that its a whole new concept in MMO's. They are working with scifi to make an MMO and a TV series that go hand in hand. As the seasons progress on TV...the MMO progresses simultaneously. From the extremely limited concept art and short video...it looks like a post apocalyptic world set a hundred years or so aftermath. Needless to say, I think this offers a whole new Genre that we have only scratched the surface on. Id love to see it play out where the player's affect the script writing on the screen.
The other one they are working on is an RTS MMO. Think C&C the mmo. Kinda Meh...but who knows. This Trion company may just be the next Blizzard.![]()
The Key difference is when folks bring up an issue...the company addresses it directly and consistently(how long have we begged for something basic like LS controls...not a peep from SE). Case in point: RIFT will soon be getting free and unlimited server transfers for a month as a way of testing the waters out, if it works they will instill it permanently...if it doesn't work...they will adjust as needed. People complained about over population on servers, and they addressed it.
Just this week I downloaded patches 80megs each, no server down time...no hassle. Patched in a few minutes vs. the hours it takes to get my XIV patches to DL. I definitely shows they work on issues, and not just a small fix every couple months.
Oh, and I just skimmed over that AH forum...I think you may be twisting it out of context just a tad.
The complaint was the AH didn't have enough activity to warrant selling green items. And a small moan about it being too complicated. Well that goes for any MMO. I dont bazaar/retainer my garbage fish, I vendor them. Much like the green items that person mentioned...its simply not worth buying or wasting my time selling. Make something useful and it will sell, I found my own nich crafting bags for people.
server xfers WoW...... and i haven't had an issue with ffxiv update minid the road block that was my bros admin. And ya SE did agress the LS issues they said that the battle issues are taking prority over it due to all the HUD/UI changes but ones they add text commands and the like they will fix the LS concerns. Just cuz u do not like the reply don't meanm 1 wasn't goven. If roft is so much better why are you here? go play rift. It just a copy cat from various MUD by iron realms entertainment. Nonthing in that game minus the class system set up is really "new". its been done before. including the dynamic rift attacks. It happen on the various MUD which were in real time. This includes those tenticals too. :P
Someone said they couldn;t find a ring from AH cbecause no one was selling any... You guys saying rift is perfect and having no issues. I just pointed out it does and ppl complain just as much as we do. :POh, and I just skimmed over that AH forum...I think you may be twisting it out of context just a tad.

Ill give you thatPeople will always complain no matter what. But some games have more complaints than others. And our dear XIV definitely has its mother load of upset players. Please don't misunderstand me, I don't think Rift is perfect, but it definitely has the look and feel of something that has YEARS of polish. There can be absolutely no denying it. And the proof is seeing the plethora of players who are swarming to it. There has to be something that is drawing them to the game.
I was skeptical and highly reluctant about starting a whole new MMO, I assure you I came along with my LS kicking and screaming. But with the first day done and gone, I was thoroughly impressed with this title. It just feels so nice playing something that is extremely well polished for a change. Shucks my first dungeon felt so AWESOME! Even if it is an absolute direct copy of GW and WOW...they did such a good job that I honestly dont mind at all. Truth is, they brought the best of both games into one...and it works!
p.s.
I do plan on coming back to FFXIV so don't think I am bashing it, its a great game with loads of potential, but we are honestly only beginning. The house is empty and unfurnished. When they have content, I will be thrilled to come check it out.11 was sucha n amazing game, I know 14 will be better. I was simply offering a point in the right direction for folks who may feel the same way and want to fill in thier time with something else till that happens.
WTF? lol. Go back to the RIFT forums please. You're the most annoying 26 year old girl...fangirl. Forgive me for my ignorance earlier although not nearly as ignorant as you are, Jesus...
SO now you are comparing an 18 month old game to an 8 month old game, America isnt the whole world you know.
Anyone with half a brain knows that FFXI was released in US 18 months after in Japan which is why it had an expansion, so come back with the "I played FFXI when it was launched in US" argument in 10 months.
Fact is at the Japanese launch FFXI had no chocobos, only zones were between the 3 main cities and jeuno, including said cities.
If anything the only mistake SE made was releasing the game world wide at the same time, because in the US they expect an 18 month old mmo at launch because of what the saw with FFXI.
I have seen too many "well FFXI had loads to do at US launch, so FFXIV should" when the origanal Japanese launch of FFXI was if anything worse than FFXIV.
Here is a link to a site that shows what your awesome game that for some reason in your little xenophobic world where you get everything first had an expansion released with it was like at the REAL launch, http://zeusls.llima.net/download/ffxiupdatehistory.html
No we expect a game made in 2010 to not release like one made in 2003... Im sorry but technology rapidly evolves at a pace that is neckbreaking to say the least. As was said there are MMOs out there capable of releasing a finished game worldwide, and while it may not be perfect it is incredibly succesful right now. So if your excuse is really going to be that "11 was like this so its fine", please dont bother. The only mistake SE made was releasing an unfinished product. We didnt need an 18 month old game, just one that learned from its past mistakes and could release and stand on its own two feet.SO now you are comparing an 18 month old game to an 8 month old game, America isnt the whole world you know.

name one MMO that doesnt borrow ideas and inspiration from other sources? Hell ive seen various forms of the same classes since the 90s in many table top games, rpgs, mmos and whatnot. As someone who beta'd rift and played rogue to 50 i can say that rift was packed with content and had one of the smoothest launches i think i have ever seen, down to even the most minute detail.
