Strange. I pay $7.99 a month for XIV.When MMORPG was first invented, the Gaming Gods said "Thou shalt charge $15 a month, or not at all", so no MMORPG is ever allowed to reduce their monthly fee.
Honestly it's pretty ridiculous to think that $15/month is the exact profit maximizing point for supply versus demand in EVERY SUBSCRIPTION MMORPG but you can't argue against the Gaming Gods.
What I would like to see them do with XI is pretty radical and unlikely to happen. I would like to see them release a relatively base version of the game, only up to RoZ, with scaled down mobs and certain alterations, such as how the doors in GC work, that would make it single player friendly, and release this base version as an introduction to the world. I think it would be a good option for people who refuse to pay subs or refuse to play MMOs.
Sorry if in the pages of replies this was said already, but I just wanted to point out : Everquest players had this option. They had the choice of paying a special but higher sub fee that allows them access to not only EQ2 but EQ1 and Vanguard Online. I forget how much it was , but it was cheaper deal if that's what you wanted.
Anywho, kind of a moot point now cuz eq2 is f2p mode now so :P
What does Dark Age of Camelot have to do with the FFXI sub fee
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/fo...ral-Discussion this there forums and will notice it dieing. Also there a lot people that would like them to server merge since some the servers down to 225 people online also at prime time pac to est time on some there server and if take mules off gets lower. A discount would work, for some, but the game is on it bed. Better if they just put the time and money into this game. Allow the hardcore over there play and pay. Update ffxi still. Not much of a reason to get new players anymore. It will always go down in video game history as the most hardcore mmo though. That was a different time.

http://www.zippygamer.com/2010/06/to...-achievements/ It a Little old now that aby came out, but at it time only 2 people in the world had all 1000/1000 achievements. Also they had these bosses. http://www.complex.com/video-games/2...w-beat-them/ff Now in the last 2 years they nerf the game and increase level cap to 99 so not so brutal. no more 18hr to 30+ hrs fights.Lineage laughs at your babytime frolic pinkbird and bluecrab slaughter simulator!!
That's mostly because nobody played FFXI on 360, honestlyhttp://www.zippygamer.com/2010/06/to...-achievements/ It a Little old now that aby came out, but at it time only 2 people in the world had all 1000/1000 achievements.
I would totally re sub to FFXI if there was a price drop. I play one or the other but since both me and my husband have accounts to both I can only really afford 1 or the other. On top of that in XI you have to pay per alt and though only $1 per that really adds up when you realize you have 2 mules just holding af3 cards to upgrade. I think my xi account was around $20-25 a month which was pretty crazy. And most XI players play with a 2nd account to two box (since the servers are a lot more dead and everyone else 2 box'es)
If they dropped the alt price, reduced the sub by just a bit I would be playing both and they would be making alot more money off me.
Actually a large majority of the people playing ffxi these days -are- Xbox players. I find when I do EG content there's a higher demand to jump in Xbox live and chat vs Skype/TS/Mumble/Vent now.
