sure, of course it is a shameless marketing ploy, a damn good one at that. many of us might hate the fact that they are doing this (including those who just will never be pleased), but i very much like the way they have bridged this together. hell, they might even include eorzea in LR.

I love it. Lightning is one of my favorite characters. I wish and hope that we get more events like this for other FF hero cameos. It doesn't have to be cannon. It's just fun to get your final fantasy character with heroes from the other games.

"when" exactly is Lightning supposed to be in Eorzea? Is it actually between XIII-2 and LR? I think she would be a little more freaked out about how her world ended and everyone else is probably dead.

Simple, at the end of ff13-2 she put herself in crystal stasis so someone would remember serahs sacrifice to save the world. Since she went "to sleep" alittle before everything went kablowie she has no idea that etro is dead.

So it COULD easily be in between lightning returns and ff13-2.

Yeah fine, if you really want to go the super technical game lore route, you may be right. But the point still remains, this is a really poorly done commercial within game to promote a console game. Doesn't matter if you like 13 or not. They spent weeks super hyping this event that turned out to be (surprise)a massive fate where you are lucky if you can see her at all, with a few vanity rewards that you cant even store! Oh boy SE I got to see Lightning, I mean I got to be in this super exciting event, I mean fate and I got this super cool level 13 gear that I cant store in my useless armory chest in my inn room! JOY! Please bring out MOAR content like this!! /sarcasm off Its a commercial, there is no way you can white knight it into anything else.

The whole thing is whack. It's a shameless promotion of the new game which doesn't interest me one bit. Lightning has no place in Eorzea, this has been said a million times but we were assured the event will 'make sense', it doesn't. It's also very bland, has little to no story and has no originality. I'm pretty sure plenty of time and effort went into making this event (despite being an utter failure) when they could have gone into something that would actually improve the game (plenty of opportunities for that). The only good thing about it are the weapon skins (hopefully they will be, when/if vanity slots come) which everyone will have anyways.

But this thread is about Lightning Returns and reunion of characters or whatever right? Did I mention it doesn't interest me at all?

You are so right, however, I am grateful for this event. No other event in this game will grant me a trench coat that I may wear by itself so that I may cast flash on every Lala I see.

Nope I just refused to participate in the event. I watched my partner do it, not interested.
