No I agree with Stanice. Lightning has zero place in this game. Its a shameless promo on the part of SE to push a console game. If it makes the community have /feels over it then all the better, it means they will sell more. It detracts from the game and it highlights the marketing schemes companies will go to, to sell items. I for one was not impressed. The fates are annoying, the gear is vanity with no vanity slots, you cant store this stuff, and you cant even see Lightning in the fates! Whats the freakin point? Oh that's right, to make a few bucks. I am sooo glad SE spent tons of time and resources to promote a console game within this game instead of doing things like fixing this game, getting rid of RMT or working on new content that is relevant to everyone instead of a few fan boys.

truth be told, many of those who said she doesn't belong to the lore aren't well versed in FF's lore to begin with and are simply saying so because they personally dislike FF13.

Cross game promotion is fine by all regards, its an event at no extra cost to the players, lore wise, we have not yet complete the quest chain and we do not know how SE is gonna tie up the loose ends.

Yeah fine, if you really want to go the super technical game lore route, you may be right. But the point still remains, this is a really poorly done commercial within game to promote a console game. Doesn't matter if you like 13 or not. They spent weeks super hyping this event that turned out to be (surprise)a massive fate where you are lucky if you can see her at all, with a few vanity rewards that you cant even store! Oh boy SE I got to see Lightning, I mean I got to be in this super exciting event, I mean fate and I got this super cool level 13 gear that I cant store in my useless armory chest in my inn room! JOY! Please bring out MOAR content like this!! /sarcasm off Its a commercial, there is no way you can white knight it into anything else.

for the last fate: after the boss died i found myself standing next to her, i managed to (on queue) start walking in the opposite direction she was. though i'm the only person who actually managed to do that, i felt awesome.

sure, of course it is a shameless marketing ploy, a damn good one at that. many of us might hate the fact that they are doing this (including those who just will never be pleased), but i very much like the way they have bridged this together. hell, they might even include eorzea in LR.

They wont elaborate on this, that's why you have to buy the game! Its a marketing ploy. You give the consumer enough stuff to get them hooked and then you tell them the answers that they seek are in the new product. No one is belittling the lore, when its relevant. I'm talking about what happened to lightning before ending up in eorzea, not after it, there was dlc related to her in xiii-2. Something made the dev team insist that this would make sense in the lore pertaining to the void. You don't like it, fine, but going around saying "It's a trick! Pay no attention to the lightning! They want you to buy it!" Isn't as interesting.
