Well said.
I am not "hardcore". I am not "casual"... I simply play this game. Like anyone else.
There is little end game content for me to do, over and above a 40min raid, and spamming the same 2 dungeons 4-10 times per week.
This complaint does not apply to you? Then once again - good for you.
I've never seen an mmo community so passionately defend mind-numblingly, soul-crushing end-game content.
Done hard modesI mean seriously guys, I got from level 0 to level 50 and beat the story and now I am at end game. I still have to beat hard mode garuda, then titan, then get my relic weapon, and then get all this darklight armor which I haven't gotten more than two pieces of. And then, and THEN I gotta get my crafting up to 50 so I can repair some things and make some money, and THEN I have to do some fishing and then I gotta collect all the minions and level up my companion and then I have to get my GC rank up to max and then work on another class. I see some things about coil runs which I haven't begun to touch yet. And all this is without even getting to socializing and helping other players out.
Why so many people complain there is little to do at end game is beyond me. And i've been playing almost every day.
Got several Relics.
Got all Darklight.
Got some Myth, Some Allagan (Forced by the game to not get more).
Done all dungeons
Done all story/class quests.
Don't need crafting, rich lolz
Minions? Useless.
Max'd GC Rank from 1.0
Max'd DoW/DoM from 1.0
What is there to do! Yes nothing.
When did I say instances? All of the "end game content" listed in this thread defending it is mind-numbingly soul-crushing. That includes: leveling alts, leveling crafting, leveling gathering, doing achievements, collecting minions (really?).. etc etc etc.
When people invest a lot of time into a game, they will eventually reach "nothing to do" especially on a Launch of an MMO. Some people need to understand that MMOs need time to grow. Unsub or stick around, either way the game needs time to grow. 3 months into the game and I am just reaching endgame ( because I play differently thus not having my 50 yet). If you only do 1 Job to 50 then do everything, by now I can see this happening. There is no harm in taking a break from an MMO. I did it in FFXI a few times each for 2 months each.Done hard modes

While in a technical sense, yes you "can" craft these, I consider these to be in the AK/WP category.. You spam WP/AK, don't have anything to spend your Philo on because you have full DL already, so what do you do? Sell animal fat or craft something..
In saying that, it is just as easy to walk down to your local market board and buy one for 50k higher then cost price..
This then goes back into the "farming gil" category which I would hardly call end game.. Especially since the most efficient way to farm gil for most people is - guess what.... AK and WP runs! Horrah.
Except, you know, the crafters with 15 Million gil+ who have never set foot in AK or WP.While in a technical sense, yes you "can" craft these, I consider these to be in the AK/WP category.. You could level alt classes you never plan to use because they're simply there and not leveled at all. I think when I fell in love with Breath of Fire 2 in '95 I sat by that last pool in Infinity after Barbaroi and before Deathevan and just leveled up characters like a hamster because I had nothing left to do in the game and didn't want it to end. I think I got somewhere into the mid 60s before I realized that was stupid, and without any more forward reaching content, I needed to move to a new game.
