Agreed I personally love the lore of the game and its getting kinda annoying with square pushing lightning everywhere using resources promoting another game. When I heard she was going to be in final fantasy 15 lets just say I was not pleased. Personally the only interesting character in 13 was sazh soon as his story ended I lost interest.

truth be told, many of those who said she doesn't belong to the lore aren't well versed in FF's lore to begin with and are simply saying so because they personally dislike FF13.

Cross game promotion is fine by all regards, its an event at no extra cost to the players, lore wise, we have not yet complete the quest chain and we do not know how SE is gonna tie up the loose ends.

Yeah fine, if you really want to go the super technical game lore route, you may be right. But the point still remains, this is a really poorly done commercial within game to promote a console game. Doesn't matter if you like 13 or not. They spent weeks super hyping this event that turned out to be (surprise)a massive fate where you are lucky if you can see her at all, with a few vanity rewards that you cant even store! Oh boy SE I got to see Lightning, I mean I got to be in this super exciting event, I mean fate and I got this super cool level 13 gear that I cant store in my useless armory chest in my inn room! JOY! Please bring out MOAR content like this!! /sarcasm off Its a commercial, there is no way you can white knight it into anything else.

Would be nice to hear more stuff about this. What caused Lightning to end up floating through space and time anyway? Does xiii-2 elaborate on this?

They wont elaborate on this, that's why you have to buy the game! Its a marketing ploy. You give the consumer enough stuff to get them hooked and then you tell them the answers that they seek are in the new product. No one is belittling the lore, when its relevant. I didn't play FFXIII-2 but from what i heard.

She became the angel of death to get the souls of everyone in FFXIII universe and save them from the Chaos Sea and the Chaos creature so that they can be reborn in a new world, because the godess of time died and so her god has send her here to train so that she is ready for the last 13 days of her world ( FFXIII-3 ) ( I want an alternate ending where they are reborn in Eorzea now! )

It's a shameless promotion of the new game

Everyone knows its a promotion for the new game. So what? That doesn't mean that what they did with it wasn't the least bit interesting. They weren't like trying to hide it or anything.

I don't know about you guys, but when Lightning talked about how beautiful Gridania was, and how her companions would've loved it there, I couldn't help but feel a bit sad.

I also enjoyed this moment briefly, as well as the nostalgia of hearing the FFXIII theme during the FATE fight. But it's all kind of shattered by how little sense it all makes. Lightning is barely even acting in character, first of all. Secondly, "when" exactly is Lightning supposed to be in Eorzea? Is it actually between XIII-2 and LR? I think she would be a little more freaked out about how her world ended and everyone else is probably dead. The only way to understand this event is to accept it as a commercial and ignore everything else.

I'm pretty sure plenty of time and effort went into making this event...

Actually it feels more like someone threw the entire thing together in a day. And part of me really hopes that was the case considering so far in phase 3 there has been about 4 minutes of content that didn't involve camping.
