The reason people say upgrade to relic+1 is because the extra two weapon damage is something like 28 of your main stat. Add on the couple extra stat points you get and it's clearly the best single upgrade for damage and healing.

Except for bard it's only +1 dmg and 1 dmg for all classes is 7 of your core stat(bards get more of an increase through secondary stats off certain myth items then they do from +1 relic). This thread was also started by a tank, so putting 2 and 2 together they were probably asking if they should go +1 relic right off the bat as tank, which depending on the rest of their gear even with +1 having 2 dmg for tanks it is not the best upgrade when compared to other pieces depending on what someone currently has.
