We are not getting content more difficult than Twintania.

Square Enix got the memo. Yoshi P predicted 100 people would beat Twintania before patch 2.1 but only one or two groups managed to get the legit kill before the nerf. Square Enix has said they have learned and they will use these results for more raids in the future. Learn from what, that their content was too difficult?

Now, they have said that they will be nerfing all hard mode primals when they add the extreme mode primals, they will be adding echo buffs to things like the early turns of coil as they add more turns of coil, and that they will be lowering the price of myth items as they add more myth items.

What this tells me is that the difficulty of the game right now, is what it will stay at. Extreme primals may very well be the same difficulty as the current HM primals before they are nerfed, and future coil turns may as as difficult as the current coil turns.

The epitome of this, is, of course, Turn 5, which is what some of the hardcore FCs call "the only difficult fight in the game". Yes, there are people that think turn 1-4 is easy mode, and I don't think that we'll be getting anything similar to turn 5 soon. So, long story short, if you don't like the current challenge of FF14 endgame, you will never like it, because it's more than likely not changing.

I'm just being a realist. Challenge me if you wish, but I do not agree with the "dumb things down as you add new hard things". all this tells me is they're copy pasting hard mode titan and calling it 'extreme mode titan'. it won't be that exactly, but that's what it feels like to me.

Discuss why or why not you think Twintania would represent the most challenging content this game has to offer.

The development team actually provided feedback on this.

As this was their first proper raid-scenario in creating a slightly complex fight that required a 'learn-to-win' scenario, they said they appreciated the feedback and general response we provided, giving them the time to consider what worked and what didn't and what to do for future content like this.

Even for a company as big as Square Enix there's a learning curve for creating content like this, where trail and error are common-place.

"Oh this mechanic was great fun, why not try this with A B and C next time?"
"How about we use this role to do this, while that role does that next time, the players enjoyed this"

This is their first one, we really don't know if the next 'Twintania' will be easier or harder, it's all relative to how quick you can learn it and overcome it,

ALL content becomes easy once you learn it, our FC's winning group can now one-shot Turn 5. Why?
Because once you learn how to actually /beat/ content, it's super easy to repeat the process, especially if the mechanics aren't randomised.

Thats because we are missing an entire tier of gear progression and most groups are stuck behind a gear wall. They should have imo just given us this uber hard crystal tower they went on about and adjusted accordingly.

so what appears to be actually difficult content is randomized battle where reflexes are important or just pure luck in positioning , interesting

If by difficult you mean having more twister like mechanics, then no I hope that they don't make any more "difficult" fights. If you look at some of the more legitimately challenging fights in WoW, Four Horsemen (Vanilla), M'uru, Heroic Lich King, all of those were extremely hard finely tuned fights and none of them relied on random wackiness to make them difficult, instead they mostly relied on coordination and everyone in the raid excelling in their job as opposed to an Absolute Virtue style fight where there is some trick to beating the boss. As to which one you think would make for a better game, I suppose it boils down to preference, but I would venture to say more would prefer the former.

Are you sure you've stepped foot in all of coil? Turn 5 included?

Who knows, if you go anything by their previous mmorpg they can add interesting bosses that can take several years to figure out how to beat :-) Hope they add something like that ^^

The problem I have with the current endgame content, is the theme. Dodge this, dodge that, move out of this. Now I have yet to experience Coil. My playtime doesn't allow me to right now.

But.. my issue is they have such fun, cool and enjoyable boss/fight mechanics all throughout their leveling dungeons. Though, once your in whats considered the "Endgame" content all those cool things go out the window. Its just turns into dodge this or you die and everyone wipes.

That in my book isn't fun its boring and frustrating and I feel it lacks creativity. Where did it all go while leveling, you had such fun in them, but endgame it becomes the same thing in every fight. Over and over again with dodge mechanics. They just went too overboard with that certain mechanic. I hope this trend stops with them. There are many ways to make a fight difficult and hard yet fun and enjoyable by not only having to dodge things.

Blizzard did a great job at boss mechanics and making them challenging yet fun. A lot of those fights aren't fully scripted there is some randomness to them but not where X ability goes off twice its a wipe. Its more of X ability goes off you can cope with it and will put your skills to the test. That is fun and enjoyable not dodging everything thats deadly and dangerous.

Again, I haven't seen Coil yet so I don't know how that fully is other than what I've read or watched.
