So... just how BIG is Bahamut? (spoilers?)

As others have said, depth perception and all that.. from the screen shot you can see that it is set pretty far back.. Also remember in the end of the era trailer/ARR opening movie where Bahamut is in front of Louisoix staring him down (as someone above thought they remembered).

I don't think this will be explained until more story (more Turns of Coil) is released.

as you can see here: bahamut's wingspan is clearly large enough to give the lominsians a nice shade on a hot summer day....

on a completely different note about turn 5: thats just depth perception messing with you. he (as in his head) is at least a few kilometers away from you in that part of coil.

This is still pretty difficult to tell, unless there's another frame that shows how close he came to those buildings. It does tell us his wings are at least the length of Limsa. (or whichever city that is)

I can't find a screen cap of the Dalamud fragment in the background, but the camera follows up the length of that fragment after it falls into the battlefield. You could also probably find a screen cap of the width of the fragment compared to the size of the soldiers on the ground, and calculate the approximate length of the fragment, which would give us a much better estimate of Bahamut's size.

I would guess that the fragment is 800 feet or 250 meters tall. Probably a low estimate.

We can also assume that the fragment doesn't span the full radius of Dalamud (assuming that they didn't physically pierce Bahamut's form inside Dalamud). That puts the diameter of Dalamud at a minimum of 3000 feet (~0.8 km). Eyeballing the size of Dalamud compared to the (almost fully-extended) wingspan seen in the photo, it would seem that his wingspan is at least a mile (or ~1.5-2 km).

Spoilers:
I can only assume that he has somehow shrunk inside the Coil or that his hand was liberally downsized for expediency, because it seems way too small in proportion with his supposed size given in the opening cinematic.

The various shots do show that his wingspan is huge compared to the rest of his body .. and in turn 1 it is pretty massive, I remember my first time through not even realizing what it was (and then going oh ****** when I did realize it. )

Side note, I've been in turn 5. The area of which Bahamuts head bursts out of, is pretty dam far from the platform you take your picture on. Like if you were running it would probably take a couple of minutes to get to. So the fact that his head is that big from far, yeah... pretty sure they got the sizing down pact.

Cool I was hoping it was something like this, I'm still trying to beat turn 5 so I only had the screenshots to go off.

the allagan empire does seem to be on the "we can surpass the power of gods" sort of people from what little bits you learn of them.
It also doesn't really make sense that he breaks free from his prison in dalamud to shortly end up torn to pieces underground in an allagan facility being worked on by allagan devices with no real in between story at all.

I was also confused by this, in the cutscene it goes from the 12 trying to re-seal him, failing, then he uses mega flare, then he's buried under ground trapped again. I wanted to go back and re-watch the cutscenes for turns 1-4 to see if I missed something, but they aren't available in the Inn, and I've already cleared them this week >.<

There's going to be more expansions for Coil in the future. Kinda would ruin it if we got all the story right at once.

Yoshi-P has stated that there are three concurrent storylines in ARR. The first is the third invasion of the Garlean empire (main scenario). The second is the growing beastmen and primal threat to Eorzea (some main scenario, HM primal battles). The third is figuring out what exactly happened five years ago, particularly with respect to why Bahamut isn't eating everyone's face RIGHT NOW, since no one seems to remember the details (Binding Coil).

I'm not at home right now so I can't check... but I'm pretty sure I checked there, I when I didn't see it I assumed it was because it's not actually part of the duty finder. I'll be sure to check again later, thanks!

I'm sure it's there because I've used it before. It'll be listed under The Binding Coil of Bahamut - Turn 1 but all the cutscenes from every turn should be there.
