In FFXI i'm used to log in my characther from my friend's PC.

If i go to my friend's house, log in from others laptop (with FFXIV istalled) is cool.

People can play a sort of LAN party, where 2-3 person can enjoy FFXIV from the same room without the personal PC limitation.

Can SE remove this limitation that lock a character if people can try to log in from another computer?

Another bad thing is that if I have a laptop and try to log in from another place FFXIV block my account.

I've never had an issue with this and my SE account is logged in from opposite ends of the world at times due to family having POL IDs linked to it.

You talk about POL? But POL is in FFXI

I use FFXI only like a good example becouse in FFXI I can log in my character from another PC.


I mean if I want to log in my SE account (FFXIV account) from another place where FFXIV client is istalled but normally used from another person with another account.

I try a lot of times and every time my account was blocked and unable to log in.

Same happen if they try to log in from my PC and FFXIV client

Its a security feature that basicaly makes you reset your password(i minor inconvenience) if you log on from a different IP

this is to stop people who are accessing peoples accounts illegaly(hackers) and is there for your protection.

If you wanna log in somewhere other then usual, do the process real quick and then log in, its not that hard to do

and its alot better then one day logging in only to find someone changed all your info and is now using your account instead of you because this feature wasnt in place


as far as multiple people on same IP goes...thats not an issue at all, i have multiple computers connected to this game and there are no issues(cuz i never switch IPs)

It's a minor inconvenience, but wholly tolerable to me given the extra security it gives to my account.

Just buy the security token. Issue is solved. Accounts link with a security token are safe from the IP lock out. Since it is hard to bypass the token. Pretty much the IP block is am automatic fail safe. This was put into place when the SE offices where hacked into and anyones account not liked to a token were compromised. Pretty much think about the psn hacking.... but for an mmo. It was pretty nasty too. I think ppl were after CC info cause no one character had items deleted. Its been a while since it happen. So details are foggy,

Then that is something you must deal with
whos to say im not the one logging into your network from right outside your house?

again, this protects you, yes its an inconvenience, but its one thats worth it


as ive always stated before in these matters
people LOVE security features, unless they are affected by them and have to do anything extra
