When I ran around when not leveling in a party or LFP I'd run through random outdoor dungeons and kill every mob I saw , all their drops were nice money most of the time. The game felt huge, epic, living, and awesome.

Don't reply to me though.
Eeeh, i have fond memories of FFXI too..then after i quit i played another mmorpg, and never again i had that memories.
But not because they weren't good.
Because after FFXI i got the MMO mindset. After you get that, there's no turning back: every map it's not an adventure, it's a map. Every mob it's not a challenge, it's meat, sometimes money. That tower on the distance it's not a cool place to explore, but a empty tower not worth to pay visit.
So, sorry to break the bubble, but more often then not there memories are there because they were the first and not the best.
