Yeah I agree, there is a huge diffrence between raw parsed dps and the reality of a boss fight. In actual practice, unless you have to move, no one ever casts Fire III as their second spell once they start their Fire spam.
Fire III to get into AF3 -> Fire (triggers proc)-> Fire -> Firestarter Fire III -> Fire etc.
The method most BLMs use of not interrupting their current Fire spell to use a Firestarter proc ensures you're always going to have 2 Fire I's for every Firestarter Fire III.

Also I made a fast vid showcasing the world of Eorzea

I thought it was a dps loss to wait and see if you get it or not? I always use it on the Fire after it procs rather then waiting to see if it procced. Is it better to Fire > pause to see if you get proc> Fire?

If you pause you really can only do it for about half a second. I prefer just to continue the fire chain though.

"As soon as you get it" as in "after your current cast finishes". The person I was responding to was holding it until he was in UI3, because he's dumb.

Ohh okay. I simply used it on my next cast, because when I was new someone yelled at me politely to cast it when available rather then wait for the proc after each cast.![]()

Everything he said is pretty much accruate.Except that it's not, of course. Fire's cast time is exactly 1 GCD. Using Firestarter costs exactly 1 GCD. 1 + 1 + 1 = 3.
Edit: No one waits to see if it procs, you just use it as soon as you can. There's always a 40% chance you'll burn a proc on the Fire 1 you cast before the previous lands and activates FS.

Don't wait for it, simply keep casting Fire I, if you see the proc, jump to interrupt Fire I and while you are in the air of jump graphic cast Firestarter proc. Jumping interrupts Fire I and you can still cast Fire III while in mid air without it being interrupted. As soon as you hit the ground, spam Fire I again. You've have literally lost no time by doing this.
Waiting is a DPS loss. Reacting to Firestarter by interrupting Fire I to get off Fire III for free is not a DPS loss if done correctly.
