I agree, that cherry picked line is a lie, but when coupled with this:

Don't wait for it, simply keep casting Fire I, if you see the proc, jump to interrupt Fire I and while you are in the air of jump graphic cast Firestarter proc. Jumping interrupts Fire I and you can still cast Fire III while in mid air without it being interrupted. As soon as you hit the ground, spam Fire I again. You've have literally lost no time by doing this.

Waiting is a DPS loss. Reacting to Firestarter by interrupting Fire I to get off Fire III for free is not a DPS loss if done correctly.

I also have questions from you experts. After a gawd awful tanking performance at HM one time i want to focus on bm.
I did Copperbell the other day as thm but was getting too much agro at times. What combo would be best to switch to when you get aggro?
So far i basically just start off with either thunder or Ice> Transpose> Spam Fire 1
until mana is low>Transpose, ice, etc.
I leveled twice today so finally have Fire 2 (i am at Level 20)
But Fire or Ice 2 are AOE spells so not suited for single targets, correct?
Oh and in dungeons i also will use thunder>Sleep on targets so less stress for the tank
(I made it to level 40 PLD)
One last thing, what are procs and Firestarter and so on you all talk about

It is easy to steal hate at lower levels, tanks don't get most of their agro tools til they start getting up there. You will (most likely) need an already experienced tank to keep things off of you, or you can try to teach them. . . in the small dungeons, its probably less stressful to just slow down your damage, as counter-intuitive as that sounds.

The "II" spells are AoE, but I always found uses for Blizzard II because it isn't targeted. I'd use it when the main target was almost dead, so if it died, I would still make a step toward umbral ice.

Firestarter procs are a result of casting Fire I. It gives a % chance of giving you a free Fire III cast. There are also the thundercloud procs, which give you a % chance at thunder freebies.

My fc buddy was getting less agro as tank so i may have to let off spamming Fire, lol
Seems silly for me to quit my PLD which is level 40 but finding thm more enjoyable
Easy enough to switch as i have been working up every class

I'm seeing that Firestarter lasts for 2 spells before disappearing if unused. So I wouldn't think to interrupt any Fire that I'm casting since the Fire 3 will still be there when I'm done.

I think I'm understanding the rotation... just working on improving my timing. Always gotta improve!
