New Classes/Jobs
-It’s fun looking back at the various Jobs and classes featured in the Final Fantasy series history as potential candidates to be added to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Heck, you can even look at Final Fantasy XI for some obvious examples of classes players would probably like to see in ARR. However, the system ARR uses makes considering the logistics of these additions somewhat perplexing. For example, it’s not too hard to imagine Square Enix adding Dark Knight to ARR. GLD+CNJ gives you a Paladin, GLD+THM could easily give you a Dark Knight Job. But what about some other classes and Jobs that aren’t represented at all in either gameplay, theme, or aesthetic in the current game? Are these still possible? Or would Square Enix look more to add Jobs such as Dark Knight, which easily fit within the current crop of classes available in the game.
To illustrate my point, I used the example of adding Ninja to the game. You’d probably want a “Thief” base class for that, but this doesn’t currently exist, so would Square Enix still be open to adding it?
- We were told that, yes, Square Enix would be willing to add these sorts of classes and Jobs if the game needed the team roles and if it wouldn’t break the current balance of the game. Adding something like Ninja (and Thief to go along with it as a base class) would be a massive undertaking as one might imagine, as each class also features its own guild and missions to go with it. For certain iconic classes or Jobs like Ninja, Square Enix is willing to do it, but they are definitely putting more of an emphasis on trying to find Jobs that can fit within the current scope of the game’s available classes.

actually i don't think we will see musketeer added before a long time, like i have said it will need a new jobs in DoH for make him weapon... plus, eorzea haven't the technologie for exept some gun that pirate have, but like said is not enough for make a class, the machinist as jobs ask a more evolved technologie that eorzea don't have. only the empire have it, the only possibility will be when we will reach ala miggho... not before.
for come back to the subject if they add thief, i guess it will be with ishgard, or link to it. or it will make another class come from uld'ah

I would like to see a Thief Job mostly for the "Treasure Hunter" Ability. I would love to have an extra chance at drops esp. for HQ's. I think Treasure Hunter 1 should be a cross-class ability but TH2 & 3 should remain Thf only.
Also, although I wouldn't mind a Scout Class that branches to Thief/Ninja Jobs, I don't think it is necessary. Archer could branch off into a Thief/Ranger Job with Traps Actions, Survivability Traits and Drop Boosts...and they could equip a Dagger in the Off-Hand.

I'm happy to see so much support for this class, and thanks to those that provided me with some useful information that I had not previously been able to locate. The scout 'class' information was helpful, sometimes those interviews are difficult to keep up with. A lot of you seem to agree that it should be the missing dexterity based class, I mean Thancred is a Thief, is he not?

Like you Marik, I'm really wanting Thief. Especially to have a stealing ability and a TH trait. I would absolutely love this.
About Musketeer, this is just speculation, but I would say the 'near omission' of it by Yoshida-san in discussion would mean one of two things:
- The class/job is ready for release, and they are just waiting for an opportune time.
- The class/job is never coming.
He and the entire development team knows how bad people want that class/job, I assure you. However, he always dances around Musketeer when it is brought up, not really saying anything about it at all. I'm sure it's most likely #1; but if it were #2, I would dodge it every time it was brought up too. I wouldn't want to be the one bearing that bad news; considering how 'in demand' it has been since pre-release of 1.0
And while we're at it, I want Dancer back :3
