I personally liked Abyssea however you can not argue (or at least should not) that Abyssea took 6 years of players' hard work and time to get gear for the long time cap of 75 and essentially wiped it out in a matter of weeks.

I think you can safely point to Seekers of Adoulin as well.... which is where FFXI is going now - same style of gear progression as FF14 with slightly more variants and more contents than FF14.
