Monks say they're underpowered.
Bards say they're underpowered
Dragoons say they're underpowered
Black Mages say they're underpowered
Summoners say they're underpowered.
Which is it?!

Actually I'd like to clear up a few minor misconceptions listed here
I assure you this is not the case as i've broken 1100 DMG critting Fester on certain mobs as SMN (Titan included)-they have a good spike damage for a melee dd :/ a critted full thrust surpass 1k damage. Only blm can do better
Also highly inaccurate the bonuses you get from perfect balance and using the correct skills will net you far more DMG out than using Dragonfire Dive will-Mnk as "ultimate" skill get...nothing. Just perfect balance. Which is useful, but not really spectacular. At least you got boom
The reason MNK is brought up in comparison is because DRG and MNK fulfill the same function; melee physical damage, and as it stands currently MNK brings far more to the table in this department, this isnt to say DRG is worthless... but it does need some improvements to bridge the gap a bit.

have u use str potions to increase your damage?
@ryel: that the point, the monk bring more tool, more damage and more survivability.... why take a dragoon? exept him cool armor. if you need a burst dps, the black mage is far better too...
Hence why i'm agreeing with the OP![]()
I main a bard and can't wait for the nerf so all these scrub dragoons and summoners who rerolled bard can go back to maining something else.
Ifrit: Lose GL when he charges. He does this every couple of minutesWhile yes, MNK dps relies heavily on greased lightning - they are still far superior to a DRG by a long mile in practically all content at the moment. (Aside from maybe Garuda?)
There are few, if any fights where a MNK isn't able to maintain greased lightning. At least not often enough to warrant choosing a DRG over a MNK.
Garuda: Lose GL when she jumps or spawns sisters (Jump every minute in phase 1, sisters every 3 mins or so in phase 2)
Titan: Lose GL on bomb spawns, jumps and gaols.
WP: Lose GL on Giant Bavarois when he targets you
AK: Lose GL when targetted by Anantaboga
Chimera: Lose GL when targetted by Chimera
Hydra: Don't lose GL unless voidzones are particularly unlucky
Coil Turn 1: Don't lose GL
Coil Turns 2-5: (I don't have enough experience to comment)
Now everyone loses DPs when they get targetted by Anantaboga, Chimera, Giant Bavarois, Titan etc. the difference is that Monk then needs to spend 9 GCDs to get back to their optimal DPS state.
Perfect balance can be used to counter this, but only once every 3 mins (iirc) and it still takes 3 GCDs to get back to GL3 with PB active.
I dont think DRG is weak. I usually outdps everyone in coil. The only one being better is MNK in my eyes but i feel on bosses, single target dps should be above all ranged dps. At the very least higher than bard for sure.
I also dont think the class is badly designed, take a look at all ranged dps, they certainly dont have lots of interesting mechanics. I am playing both MNK and DRG and in my eyes they are by far the most fun to play dps.
Monk got boned is what it got, not special treatment. While a good monk with good gear can put out high numbers over time, monk is still just a purely sustained damage class. It can't burst effectively at all. In short fights, or fights where the monk can't stay glued to the mob, the dragoon will always outdo the monk (assuming equal skill and similar gearing). If you ask me: melee DPS needs to be reworked as a whole and ranged burst/ dps classes need to be taken down a peg. Maybe implement little things, like forcing bards to stay still for their more powerful attacks, adding distance penalties and the like. Nerf black mage's refresh rates a little...something. Jobs are far from anything close to balanced at the moment.

a bit hoax.
mnk have silence, but only in opo opo form and it's barely viable. The only boss when i use it it's first ADS, and even that because i have to give up dps and keep momentum only for high voltage.
Stun ? Drg have too.
dispel. Fun and all be the only class who dispel but..where i can use it ?
Drg can apply slow at will, while mnk can't. It must dodge first. It's a bit shortsighted just list debuffs whitout taking account how.
I didn't say what do more damage of the two. But usually, when we expect the last skill avaiable, we expect something ..more, then something like perfect balance, which is generally used to re-apply 3 GLAlso highly inaccurate the bonuses you get from perfect balance and using the correct skills will net you far more DMG out than using Dragonfire Dive will
