Gil buyers and you?

Yeah! Ok! He has the the time to make all these alts and farm tens of millions of gil, maybe in hundreds with bad luck (perfect overmelds), but he needs to waste time looking for a pug for a garuda weapon.

How does having alts and tens of millions of gil have anything to do with joining a Garuda pug? He can't exactly craft himself a better weapon, now can he?

He bought gil.

Him buying gil is about as likely as you not being so obviously jealous that there is somebody out there who is richer and more successful than you. "Somebody has better gear and more gil than me, they obviously cheat and buy gil".

Personally, I would have looked to see if the HQ geared was made by the same crafter, why? Because I craft all my wife's gears and because I have all the crafting classes up there, I tend to add 3-5 melds per piece simply cuz it's my wife and I want her looking good as possible without having to spend a gil of her own or leveling up crafts. So lodestone would not be the best source to confirm if a person buys gil or not.

Not saying that is the situation for the player the OP mentions, but it's something to consider before accusing them of buying gils. I would personally like to see all gil buyers & sellers out of the game, but that's up to SE to figure out and fix.

You know. I saw a player with no Free company and no Grand Company listing walking around with an Astral Choker and an Astral Bracelet. His other gear was a mix of Gray Accessories, Aetherial Armor, and an Ifrit's weapon.

I wondered what the story behind that sort of player would've been... if he'd been in an FC and things went awry or if someone'd just simply "hooked him up". But upon thinking about it... that was an awful suspicious grouping of items for someone with no Grand Company or Free Company. I mean, there's always the chance an LS would've hooked him up, but considering he had no Darklight armor at all, but he had two Astral pieces, fully melded with IV and III materia... pretty odd.

I didn't really tie that to someone buying gil. I'm naive enough to believe that people are saying "NO" to RMT.

a friend of mine has been gifting me all my gear so far. while I DO make gil selling stuff, I have paid zero for my gear (I do provide him with botany mats but he's craft it either way)

Being given some hq w/e before 50 isn't much, but its a totally different story when there is literally millions of gil in melds and mats involved.

obviously, but that's the point. he is the kind of guy who will insist on crafting even that stuff for me. in fact he already is working on it and gives me lengthy 'no-no' answers when I say NQ is more than fine. (especially since as slowly as I'm leveling it will probably be way into next year until I'm 50)

our FC was running Garuda for fun and alt job weapons. We didn't want to pug a DF dps and decided to do a shout in Mordona to pick up a local. A quick check of lodestone revels that its the only 50 they have, zero crafts, zero gathering and zero experience in game. This guy flat out told us he was a new 50.

in order to do the Garuda fight means he had at least finished the main storyline! did he have his job class unlocked? if not doesn't really matter maybe his FC ran him through the storyline? maybe fates, and sidequests hold no interest for him so he grinds the lvls out running the first 6 dungeons collecting gear and selling it (gil & items too) do the math if dedicated could easily run each dungeon 1-2 times a day collecting 6 to 12 drops at the least items sell for 15k been playing for 60 days = 5-10mil min just because hes a new 50 doesn't mean he started a week or less ago. maybe just has a different view on whats important to him in game?

You also know that RMTs provide services to level you up too right?

I had an experience once with this gil buyer in AK. You know what I did? I didn't help him clear it because he also didn't want to clear it.

I tried to help him understand the last boss fight in AK by explaining it 3-5 different ways to him but you know what he did? He did not listen once, and all he did was stand there with purple links next to the boss. So we never cleared AK. Many people got mad because they expect to join an in-progress on the last boss and have a short clear on AK for mythos, but I didn't care anymore because once I figured out he was a gil buyer I stopped helping him.

Btw, this guy had a relic and a few high gear pieces, but he said he never did AK before. AK is required to be cleared to get a relic.

If you really want to stop gil buyers from playing your favorite game then all you have to do is alienate them so they can go support RMTs in another game.

Did he buy Gil or not? Not MY call, or yours. That is between him and Squenix.

If I were to find someone looking that suspicious, I'd most likely report them and go on my merry way. Let those that know exactly what to look for figure it out. They will either clear him or ban him. All we, as players, can do is let Squenix know that something is kinda shady and it might be a good idea to look into it.

In short, if you see something suspicious, report it and move on. Period. Don't confront the suspicious personage. Don't come to the forums and let people know about it. Don't go spreading rumors about what you THINK is going on.
