Unlike normal games most monsters generally do the same thing, they wander around and attack or ignore you. Custom maping zones for a species of birds/bats would be a massive waste of time considering what else they could be doing instead. Then again if a "Floating bird" breaks your mind so badly that you ar eno longer immersed in the video game.

Perhaps you need to go hunt real avian creatures who are more than willing to sit in trees and then swoop down onto your face. Hell we should add the mechanic that birds would just...fly away when they noticed you are going to beat the shit out of them.
Well, by way of example, ArcheAge does it better than FFXIV. The birds in ArcheAge fly around in the sky for 90% of their adult life, and only when you attack them do they stop flying around in the sky. It's way more realistic.

People are so obssessed with MMOs like WoW (an MMO which is very unrealistic) that they've stopped even being able to appreciate the finer qualities in MMOs (such as realism).

You don't have to take it for granted that just because it is an MMO it is therefore unable to accommodate realism and individual mob-characteristics.

    Why settle for second best?
