You don't have to stand right next to the wall to hit it as melee. Next to the red ring is fine and gives you plenty of room to see. I also cast shadow flare on demon wall are you standing in the flare? and do you play in 1st person?

I'm generally standing right next to its right arm, about two characters' distance away from the edge, whenever I fight it. So, my field of vision is pretty much limited due to the wall looking so huge, I can barely see a fraction of the ooze when it appears on the floor (about a 1/4th of it, I'd say), which is why whenever Shadow Flare is used, I'm unable to see it continue beyond Shadow Flare since the only part of the ooze I can see is actually within the barrier.
I understand zooming out would solve my problems, but I've grown accustomed to fighting with the same camera throughout the whole game, ya know? I've never had to zoom out during fights and I've been in Bahamut's Coil like this, so it's kind of frustrating to hear people telling me that I don't know what I'm doing just because I am unable to see this properly during the fight or don't wish to zoom out my camera. I'm sure if I was playing on PC and just had to scroll to zoom out or whatever, I would have probably been using that feature like second nature at this point, but it's difficult enough as it is to keep up with my hotbars by using button binding (e.g. pushing R1+O at the same time as opposed to simply pushing R1 to cycle to hotbar 2).
