I remember ratbags in parties I've been in. But then again, when you do a run and pull the rabbits out of hat it makes up for it. Like the nice WAR who complemented my SCH healing in WP. Pleasant people make perfect parties.

You probably didnt realize that people also bashing on mentality of people that starting this tread:

Oh wait.... that is you
What is the wrong with new players asking veteran how to do a new boss fight btw? I am all curious
I'm not disagreeing with you. I was disagreeing with the idea that people only remember the bad about an experience, as that is untrue. My own experience with ffxi and ffxiv has led me to believe the community here is worse, than when I played ffxi. Of course that's only my own experience so I won't pretend to extend that to what others might have experienced (not saying you are). I also stopped playing ffxi regularly long before ffxiv came out, and during that time, pretty much the majority of online communities have gone down hill IMHO.FFXI's community was better, but this was by necessity...I've never experience a community that was so closely knit where your reputation was everything such as it was in ffxi. This isn't nostalgia glasses. This is just how it was. The sheer amount of nasty attitudes I've seen on this forum and in game has blown my mind considering how mature most of the FFXI community was.
It's Rated-T - What else do you want?
Dare I say it - It's the WoW crowd.

Not the entire wow crowd. But I know between XI and WoW, people were generally nicer on XI than anyone I saw on WoW. I never played WoW. But my friend quit XI for WoW And I saw how people were. And I saw how he started to act too.
The community in-game is fine, the one on the forums isn't. Even on DF I've been having some great experiences. I come check the forums and.. wow... arrogance is just the most common 'virtue' of most people here.
The problem is that it is the same community that played WoW, and Tera, And Aion, And Warhammer, and XI, and etc etc etc.
The thing is that mmo companies fail to realize one big flaw: A not insignificant number of people, when they can't be punished, will be mean. Even if it's just 15% of the DF population, that means that you have a 50% chance to get a guy that will harp and harp and harp on someone's mistake, or troll the group, etc.
I find it utterly hilarious you can't tell the difference between toxic and tongue-in-cheek.You probably didnt realize that people also bashing on mentality of people that starting this tread:

If you read further into the thread, you might actually have understood the initial post was just that (tongue-in-cheek) and that I actually have no problem with explaining fights and being polite about it. Sadly, you're horribly shallow and quick to judge.
Want toxic? Look in a mirror.
Community's more than fine. As the game gets larger and more streamlined it's bound to get more jerks. Happened with LoL, happened with WoW, happened with every game with a huge playerbase. Welcome to the Internet ****wad Theory and its interaction with DF and other forms of anonymous matching.
Echoing this.
Completely irrelevant to the thread, but I didn't. A mod did. There was nothing actually destructive happening in the thread, but I'm fairly certain discussing deleted threads is against the ToS anyway, so this is where I drop it.
Thanks for jumping to another conclusion.

Interesting, I think the community is pretty good overall. Most mmo's I've played are much worse.
What a ridiculous way to get around providing any evidence for your position. "You don't need to look up my argument, because it's correct!"
Not only that, but again it has nothing to do with what people are saying. It doesn't matter if players remember bad experiences more thoroughly than good experiences. What matters is that these players feel the bad experiences are too often. If someone runs through DF ten times and gets a jerk player four of those times, just because it's the minority of runs doesn't mean it's an acceptable number.
Don't make a thread on the forums if all you're going to do is ignore the arguments brought against you.
If they're "horribly shallow and quick to judge", why did you delete the thread?
