If it wasn't affecting a majority of players but it was affecting you, you would want it fixed immediately.
As other people have pointed out there are other things to do when the game isn't available. Personally I research whatever my next planned goals are and plan ahead to optimize my use of time in game. Researching fights, recipe paths for crafting, where to get raw materials for crafts, these are all the kind of things that can be found on the various wikis and need nothing from the game itself.
Personally I keep a notebook filled with this research just so I'm not constantly flipping between the game and my browser so when the game is up, WHICH IS THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE TIME, I can accomplish my goals more quickly. And yes these maintenances are at times I would be playing.
Sorry, perhaps I was unclear. If you were in the minority (i.e. the group of players affected) then you would be pitching a fit if it wasn't fixed immediately. The reason they don't announce what they are fixing is so that (if it's exploitable) more people don't exploit it. Or it could be something else entirely. They are under no obligation to tell us what they are doing (although I would like to know myself).
If they had less frequent fixes and all of a sudden a rollback was required the amount of rage generated from the entire playerbase would be deafening. As it is they still have to "listen" to people whine about it every time when they are trying to fix problems.
This is common knowledge to people who have played MMOs for a long time. Small patches may also contain bug/hack/exploitation fixes. Telling the general public that such things existed would give certain people the idea to try and imitate those occurrences and also at the same time it could simply be just be literally a maintenance check up, which it pretty much tells you "Maintenance on this date and time".
