    Crafting's the same way. Can't tell you how many times I've failed actions (only a 10% chance of failure with steady hand up) many times in a row, effectively botching a good synth.

    I also love getting 90-99% quality on an item only to have it NOT HQ, which has happened much more often than getting 10% quality and HQing in spite of the odds.

    The Random Number Generator doesn't play fair.

    Just because you missed once, twice, or even 3+ times in a row at 99% does not mean the game is lying and that the chance for success isn't really 99% as it claims. "A couple times" is such a miniscule sample size that there's no way you could ever possibly hope to get an accurate %. You'll need to mine 10s of thousands of times to even begin getting an accurate measurement.

    I'd be willing to bet that if you mined 1,000,000 ore at 99%, that you'd end up with roughly 990,000 ore while also getting huge strings of failures in the middle somewhere. Even if you missed 100 times in a row at some point, your success rate would still be 99% in the end.

    This kind of reminds me of ye olde FFXI, back when people would claim things like "SAM WS have terrible accuracy, I always miss!". They'd swear something like a 20% acc rate, until they were parsed and they turned out to be capped at 95% the entire time.

    Pretty much this.

    I highly doubt they would put incorrect probabilities in the game. Your bad luck is just bad, I've done my fair share of synths/gathers and believe that it goes both ways.

    And i've gone 4/5 HQ gathers on a 40% chance.

    It goes both ways. This is just how it feels, when you get the shaft on random number generation, something is broke/when you get the benefit of it, well that's just good luck!
