A suggestion that worked for someone I know is to change the language options for your search comment to multiple languages. Using emotes, target markers, and auto-translate, one can overcome language barriers to complete story dungeons even with players who don't speak your main language(s). It greatly expands your options this way. Reading up on strategies in advance will help out a lot as well.

Finally got my Arcanist (love it--want to be a Scholar) to 15, and decided to continue the main quest line (Been trying out different classes). From what I've read online, I knew I might have a bit of a wait as DPS, so I flew to Gardenia and became a Conjurer. Over the next two and a half hours, I leveled Con from 1 to 10 and completed my level 10 class quest without getting into that first dungeon. At this point, I guess I'll finish leveling my Con to 15 and try queuing as heals, which I'm supposing might be quicker.

Can I switch my Arcanist to healer role somehow?
How many more mandatory dungeons before level 30?
Would I better off continuing to level Con just for those dungeons?
Or can I become a Scholar, then queue for those earlier dungeons as a healer that way?

(On a completely different note: An NPC gave me a quest last night, and I completed the quest, but then he told me I wasn't high enough level to turn it in. WTH?)

The two healing jobs after level 30 are Scholar, and White Mage.

White Mage is unlocked when you have Conjurer to 30, and Arcanist to 15.

Scholar is unlocked when you have Arcanist to 30, and Conjurer to 15.

Prior to 30 Conjurer is the only healing class, but you did pick the right pair of classes.

Once you hit 30 you can switch back to Arcanist and become Scholar.

Sastasha, Tam-Tara, Copperbell, Toto-Rak, and Hauke are the storyline dungeons prior to 30.

I would still recommend finding a linkshell of story friendly folks who will run those dungeons. Then you don't have to worry about it so much. Just ask in shell for someone at each dungeon and wait until you get a group.

Also yes, NPC will sometimes give out quests locked to a certain level, before you are actually at that level, or if one of your classes is at that level. I know, it is a bit annoying.

    Thank you for the advice.

I really would like to try out healing. I usually play ranged DPS classes, but I love the healer animations in this game, and I've enjoyed randomly healing during some fates.

Will try to look for a good Free Company. I'm a little timid when it comes to that kind of thing, and most of what I've seen has been spam invites and people looking for raiders, but maybe I need to make that a priority.

If anyone needs help on leviathan I am usually more than happy to assist. As for incentives while the primals don't have much reason to rerun them I personally have ran tam Tara Copperbell and sastasha dozens of times each trying for the acolyte set and Braylox countless times trying forthe battle Mage stuff and well everyone runs cm and sometimes pr for tomes so those aren't so bad but I can see why it would be hard for primals and maybe some of the less interesting armor rewarding dungeons.

I think I saw an advertisement for a story friendly group on the forums... It is always better to by advertisement and then chat rather than accept blind invites.

    EDIT:
Yeah, so just a quick search of the forums finds these one on your world: Aureus Knights, Rune, Oculus

You can probably search and find others as well.

I'm in the FC Fury on Leviathan and we're always willing to help and that's not a BS line like most as we have a lot of Noobs, including myself :-)

I tried sending you (Papa Koko) multiple /tells last night but you must not have been on....

Yes they will - they will just have to find a *good* free company with members who actually *do* help each other.

Once I got my first class (archer) far enough to get my chocobo, my next priority in the game was to get my gladiator and conjurer classes leveled far enough to be able to run the first few dungeons with anyone who needed them. Being able to help out FC members, or for that matter anyone I come across who needs help, is the most fun part of the game.

One feature I'd like to see would be some visibility to how the queues stack up for each dungeon or instance. It'd be nice to look at it and see, for instance, that Tam Tara's DPS queue is particularly long today, so maybe I should queue for that one as tank or healer and see if I can help some of those players get through it, or see that the story-mode Ifrit fight has some healers in queue but no tanks or vice-versa, so I'd know which is needed to get the queue moving and could queue up for the needed role.

The game teaches you to interact with people. If duty finder can't do the job then you need to find people who are willing to help. We have to remember back in the old days, MMOs did not have such things as Duty finders. We didn't wait hours, we waited days/weeks and 1 time I recall a MONTH. Back then we couldn't spam world chat either or even map chat. We had little dinky text boxes that could only be seen by people passing by.

Most servers will always have FC's who have people who are orientated to help out and alot of times I recommend joining them if you are new to the game because they will get you thru the rest of your story quests, to lvl 50 and will also improve your overall game experience. Next time you get stuck in a DF, spend that time hunting a FC whose goal is orientated in working together or fits your needs.

Until 2.1, you won't have much for other options.
