    I find a lot of the elitism in this game to be silly, but I never played XI. All I know is that when people tell me that a Relic is required for a healer to have in order to complete a speed run (because, and I quote, "you have to minimalize your healing"), I have to laugh. Because it's so not true. :-\ I mean, unless "Speed Runs" constitute something more than "just never stop pulling unless I scream like a girl, mr. tank." Because, I mean, that's the only way I run WP.

    And it's real easy to teach a tank, too. Might take a few more minutes the first time, but afterwards it's like cake.

    Have to agree with the majority here. In FFXI you were out of luck if you played certain jobs. Optimisation was the name of the game and if you didn't fit within the known parameter you could build your own group of outcasts/friends.

    @LiadansWhisper
    Yep. I can understand dps being requiered to have relic but as a healer you can get away with not having a relic/relic +1 to join speedruns sadly most players didn't get the memo on that one. And for the love of god having relic(+1) doesn't make you a good player automatically.

    Standing still in Mor D'hona, shouting for long time trying to put a party up, managing people suddenly leaving due to FC calls, watching other party members care their own business (crafting/gathering/buying-selling on the market) while you are there shouting, choosing carefully roles/jobs, etc... is not fun. Not to me at least.

    So if I take the burden of shout and put a party up I want to be free and do what I want with it; you can still go and put a party up yourself and do what YOU want with it.

    Exactly.

    after 50 you should (in order to never feel like being carried or being a burden):
    - do CM till you get at 2-3 DL pieces (can be done within a day in DF);
    - do AK till you are close to full DL with some iLV90s;
    - go for Titan;
    - keep doing AK for iLv90s and search party for Coil (this is were I am atm).

    This is what I did at least because I don't wanna feel to be a burden for the rest of a party.

    I got called a noob for having garuda weapon and gryphonskin gear in WP. The person had relic + majority of ilvl90 gear.

    Since when are you penalized for not spending so much of your life on a game?

    Looking from a 'real life' perspective the only noobs to real world are the basement nobodies.

    The funny thing is the person you partied with will likely quit in a month or two because they've run out of content. I'm not sure 2.1 is even going to add an ilevel higher than 90.

    My name is Ifrit in game, and when I was running CM for the level 50 story quest somebody shouted "Haha, Ifrit is here and he doesn't even have Ifrits weapon !!"

    Of course I didn't have it, I was still doing the story!

    Some people are funny, you just have to laugh at them!

    While this game might feel like "grindfest" in modern stantard it is still faraway from it, doing 8h+ farming everyday for 7days in row just to get one piece of equipment could be called grinding. MMO:s and MMO players mentality has changed ALOT in past 10 years, what used to be a main thing in MMO:s is today a curseword(grinding/farming). You should know this aswell as old WoW player because on its early days it was nothing but grinding, but it all changed at the end of TBC era when badges were added and HC key requrement was lowered from revered to honored untill whole idea got scrapped.

    I am a relic tank, but I personally prefer to go into DF to do runs. Chances are I'll meet some new or gearing 50s that I can take my time with. I have all week to cap out on mythology, and if I do that in a single day then there isn't much else to do for the rest of the week.
