Whats with the zerg / speed run mentality?

I got kicked by two groups today for "being new" and not "geared for speed runs" even though they didn't even ask for a "speed run".

One of them purposely wiped, blamed me, and then said "sry bro, but I need to do speed runs", another group kicked me immediately saying "that's the lowest HP I've ever seen, leave" and "yeah go. we don't want you" in addition to name-calling and swearing. Oh and apparently all newly leveled 50s must be automatically "geared for speed runs" because it isn't like skill isn't what is looked at first. I've seen worse level 50s than people at Brayflox.

How the hell does a newly leveled 50 get in to WP or AK since apparently they all must be already geared for speed runs?

Speed run this. Speed run that. Zerg this. Zerg that.

What's the hurry? This community is garbage. XI wasn't like this. WoW was at least manageable.

    It was significantly worse.

Don't join someones premade if you don't want a speedrun, simple as that. You'll understand why people try to clear dungeons as fast as possible once you realize you need to run those dungeons literally hundreds of times.

No because the game forced you to take your time so everyone did. You didn't play XI, that much is very apparent.

Games like WoW and XIV advocate people like this. Elitists, a plague.

Pretty sure the person should indicate that its a "speed run" when they are recruiting for the group. -_-

Why do a run in 40 minutes when you can do it in less than 20? It's pretty common sense if you ask me.

Make some friends and do runs with them if you don't want to experience the "elitism" that is allegedly rampant in the game.

This is the most grindy MMO out at the moment, so people like to get things done as fast as possible. I've played SWTOR/RIFT/WoW and I've never seen this crazy speed-run mentality, but that's mainly because they aren't grind-fests.

    Err... Umm...

In FFXI, XP/hour was a huge thing whether meriting or leveling. If groups didn't meet a certain number they usually let the weakest link know about it - after an hour of bitching about it in linkshell chat. Nice try though. Claim wars weren't exactly as community building or "take your time" as you think, either. And I only played up until Aht Urgahn. From what I understand the speed mentality in XI only got worse when FoV and Abyssea hit. The one time I did go back I couldn't get a single person to take a little time to help me get my level 50 limit item (after it took only 2 nights of FoV parties to get level 50). I don't like the "Go go go!" mentality either, but c'mon man, take off the blinders. It existed/exists in our beloved FFXI just as badly.

Edit: Not to mention what Grundy mentions above. Not the "right" job/job combination? Not in the right gear? Not eating the right food? Not invited.

We must have played vastly different XI's because Reiter is right. XIV's current endgame isn't nearly as bad as XI's had gotten before I quit. XI's community overall was okay, but the general endgame community was terrible outside of your circle of friends.
