There is a video up on the page of the second link now showing it in action. Seeing them use FFXI is very strange indeed but the feature of being able to see the other players screen is nifty. Not sure what the point of the Deus Ex physics demo was supposed to be as I thought the whole point of this Cloud Tech was to off load everything to the Cloud, yet in the demo the FPS take a massive hit from 120ish down to 30ish FPS.

The trouble I have with everyone throwing around this Cloud buzzword is that nobody has shown an excellent use that will benefit gamers, hell MS are ramming the Infinite Power of the Cloud down our throats to try and sell the XBox One and even they have not shown a game that does something that couldn't be done locally without the Cloud.

Cloud technology is currently used in gaming as just a harder to circumvent form of DRM rather than actually enhancing gameplay in any meaningful way; so yea... won't help gamers, probably won't affect the publishers bottom line all that much, but looks great on a press release to investors who don't really understand the concepts. See the latest Simcity release for example, although to say that they actually used cloud technology at all in that game is being exceedingly generous.

I do find his quote "I believe that innovation in business models, where the customer determines price (e.g. the F2P model), has been the driving force of growth" somewhat humorous given his past experience with subscription based games.
