I, myself, tried, but still ended up with more quests than I could gain exp from.

Personally, I set them aside and will be using them on other jobs. No reason to let them go to waste.

I guess it also depends on how much extra stuff you do in between the quests. I did a couple of FATE's and stuff, but didn't really repeat any dungeons and just jumped from quest to quest. I still ended up with some extra quests around 20 and 30 that I used for other jobs.

Yeah that would have been great if there were main story quests between 47-49. For some reason they decided to jump to 49, leaving players to grind FATES or dungeons for EXP. Still no idea why they showed the EXP to get to 51 and just leave it empty. Seems a waste to just complete the quests and not get the exp or be able to put is somewhere, anywhere. So now my progress on the main story is halted till I get another job high enough. Which sucks because I actually enjoy the story.

Yeah, to get exp/gil/seals/ect... My point is that I grinded FATES too much and hit 50 before the main story line was done. So now I am at lvl49 main story with nowhere to dump the exp. You obviously can't level another job with main story line quests, so dungeons/FATES/leves come in handy there (at least not if the main story is complete).

I know there are "quests" to do between 47 and 49. But not "main story" quests.

You can. Your other job has to be at the level for the quest. That's the only requirements. I leveled warrior and monk at the same time so I switch them in and out.

This is what I am currently working on. I have PLD to 40 and BTN to 30. Still a little way but I'll get there. ;-) At the time I hit 50 with my main job, my second highest job was CRP at 23.

Ever considered, you know, stopping with fates as soon as you were 49 and could take story again? Doing that extra level was only your decision, poor planning on your side.
