IS it just me... or is FFXIV boring?

Ive been playing for two weeks, I have one battle class up to 50 and then I was so loving the crafting classes that I wanted to master those first. Then I found that materials were just too insanely expensive so I took up the gathering so I could get most of my own materials.

This game is built for someone to play at their leisure without too much reproach for being out of the rat race of world first dungeon clearings. I like it, personally. I dont care what dungeons somebody else cleared and flexing my epeen does nothing for me. Honestly the fact is hardcore players including hardcore pvp players comprise very little numbers on any given game. They are catering to what makes them money and the larger player base and that is the more casual player.

But I think that's part of the problem: the game as it's set up now funnels people entirely towards hard core end-game content: endless dungeon runs for gear, hard mode primals and Coil.

If the game was aiming for casual friendly, PvP should've made it in the initial release, along with a casual raid. I know these are coming in 2.1 but everything about 2.0 seemed focused on hard core players. Those players are probably getting burned out by so much repetitive content, while casuals feel like they're done when they finish the story and are then asked to farm endlessly for a raid they'll never do.

I disagree. I think your perception is a bit biased. I came into this game with a friend from Rift. I expected nothing and so far I have been pleasantly surprised. Now, I don't feel pushed to finish anything..I have not even finished the main story. That is not to say this game is perfect, it is far from it, its just to say that I enjoy the game warts and all at this very moment. I will not achieve my first step into Titan or the Coils for a few weeks yet I would guess and even when I do, its not something I will do for hours on end. Ill go, get a few things and then go gather or craft because I enjoy it and if I do not enjoy it, then Ill go lift some weights or hang out with my RL friends.
