Oh well... Guess we'll see if EQN breaks the mold or if it will be yet another pack of lies and unfulfilled promise... (still havent forgiven them for swg...)That's a fair point too, MMO's are a farcry from what they used to be and there really is very little diversity to be found between the new titles. Meanwhile, the older ones have either bitten the dust or changed so dramatically they're not fun in the same way anymore, either. There was a good write up about "First love syndrome" when it comes to MMO's that explains some of it away, but you can certainly pin the lack of diversity on most MMO developers these days. But they make what sells so what'cha gonna do? I suspect a lot of us are just here "passing the time" till something better comes along, and we're probably a big part of the problem too, haha.
*eye rolls* Back on topic. Yup, bored, hoping 2.1 brings a lot more than just useless housing.
I'm not bored but I have to preface that I haven't played an MMO in a very long time since FFXI and retired(twice) from it years ago so I've been waiting for another MMO for a looong time.
In fact I couldn't be happier, FINALLY a MMO that is not a huge time sink. I can actually get things done before I go to work and after instead of a fraction of it. I can actually play OTHER games, and watch football, bastketball, hit the bars and still get alot of things done. But there is something missing which I will point out later
I can only suggest two things that comes to mind
1. Go through another class, hell level them all to 15-20, Im a tank for life and I love the Warrior build it is so much fun to do, maybe you have't found the right class for you even though in your mind your born to be a BLM. IF tanking was boring it would be so hard for me to switch I might think the game boring too in some way.
2 Probably the most important factor in all MMOs....For all the Good Duty Finder is.....it is a community killer. Something I have yet to find is some close in game friends that MAKE you want to log in every day, nothing like completing even the simple task with people like minded whether your hardcore, casual or a griever(hater) player.
Welp back to my redbox movie then first thing in the morning do some crafting, football then some more FF(I might even skip football my team is on a BYE Week)
Thanks SE! You got it right, I don't care what they say about ya you alright with me with me.
Also thanks for the edit post tips, learn something new everyday
I have almost everything at 50 and I still find the game awesome.
The one thing I dont like are the gear stats, they are not interesting at all and I dont even have to think if something is better than the other, I just equip gear with better STR on my character.
Besides that I always have things to do in game, so no I dont find it boring.
Also Mass craft is an AWESOME feature.
It might fail 2=3 times in a hundred but spiritbonding and getting materials via this method is BOSS!
Some people miss that "what sells" is equal to "what people want". Yes, this is about the general majority, and not the odd ones out there that usually roam forums and asks for the opposite.
I don't think you'll ever see a MMO designed for a tiny niche group that like tedious content without someone actually running a kickstarter project or something.
Somebody will definitely throw the McDonalds example at you for that argument...Some people miss that "what sells" is equal to "what people want". Yes, this is about the general majority, and not the odd ones out there that usually roam forums and asks for the opposite.

You won't get any disagreement from me.Some people miss that "what sells" is equal to "what people want". Yes, this is about the general majority, and not the odd ones out there that usually roam forums and asks for the opposite.

EDIT: Aside from the fact that gearing up on any given job in this game ought to be the definition of tedious already.

I respectfully disagree. Why I do enjoy MMOs? Because of the sense of community, because of the challenge of coordinating with real people, some times against real people (PvP), in order to accomplish a common goal - that first time your corps/guild/FC/whatever kills a major boss after weeks or months of attempts is what makes MMOs worth playing. It's that sense of accomplishment... and right now, there is no sense of accomplishment. Yes, there is Bahamut's Coils, and yes the game is new, and yes I have played other MMOs in their vanilla stages (and those games weren't without their faults). However, as was previously mentioned by some one else... the story line does suddenly take a cliff dive at the end of the main story line, and without PvP, what exactly is there to do except mind numbingly gather, craft, or level a different class. Granted, this argument could be used for/against most MMOs, but all of the many MMOs I have played this is without question the most boring.
Now, I will say that perhaps I was a little hasty in my initial post... I was tired, frustrated, and I'm tired of AK taking longer than it really should after waiting in a 30+ minute que. Yes, the easy answer is to roll another job, which I intend on doing fairly soon, and to also roll with mates in my FC. I will also confess, that perhaps my perspective is heavily biased due to the play style of the black mage class, but really what is there to do with black mage? You have one DoT you keep an eye on, and then you alternate between fire/ice, with the occasional flare. I'm not asking for FFXIV to suddenly advance to the dozens of abilities that were made available over the years that WoW's been in business, but just by reading this thread it is obvious that more than a small minority of players feel the same way.
Yes, the game will get more interesting with time, and yes I am quite sure that additional features will become available as times goes on, and every MMO has its own 'birthing' process. I'd like to thank the people who actually offered positive advice in this thread.
Well, that's what the game is for me right now. I'm on a great Free Company and that's the feeling I get whenever I accomplish something.I respectfully disagree. I understand how not feeling that may affect your opinion of the game, but it is there if you can find it.
Your not wrong , this game is murderously boring. A new MMO comes out with 0 end game but Coil in 2013. What the Hell.
Vanilla wow had more endgame. Not to mention the combat system is way to slow and the server delay issue is an accepted bug.... GG. They should reduce all Cooldowns by at least 1 second. In addition to the fact nobody does any but Fate Grind to Lvl and when your Max its nothing but speedruns of AK/WP. Like really SE. Did you think people would stick around for something this dull.
Oh wait your releasing FC housing. Yeah cause thats more content that is supposed to keep me here. Why should i craft when at end game i can just get someone to do it for me making me not need to lvl it. Where are the non stop daily quests and Hardmode Dungeons like cmon. For a AAA release MMO this game completely fails
2.1 promises abit. But if i dont resub until then. Then ill just be undergeared compared to everyone that stayed. So whats the real point in returning. Like am i expected to push through the pain of nothing but AK/WP till release.. No thx
