    Imo a somewhat decent solution would be to make gathering shards easier, like it was in Beta. You had 7 attempts per gathering and the blessings would give you 5 per attempt, so 35 shards per gathering spot. Now its 4 attempts with 3 shards with blessings, so 12. That caused shard prices to skyrocket and they are way overpriced for an item that every lvl1 gatherer can collect.

    If you buff them back to the old standards the prices for shards would fall down to something reasonable, thus making food crafting a lot less pricey.

    Now i am not saying we should have back 7 gathering attempts, as this affects all gathered items and the prices are already pretty low for some of them but the blessings should at least be brought back to their old standard of 5, hell even 10 sounds very reasonable.

    Nah, what they need to do is bring back how useful food was in FFXI and XIV 1.2x - Look here:

    Go into Item > Dishes and you'll exactly how much better food was with the same durations. They need to redo the stats and % on some of the foods - I know he wants to follow certain MMO's design through and through but the food system in Xi and Xiv 1.x were actually..the most useful out of all MMOs I've played.

    To be honest it would be better if they brought back 1.x recipes - As in allow us to convert fish into shards through alchemy and create crystals/clusters.

    I like the current crafting system, however I agree with what you stated about making food like XI and 1.2XX, also the alchemy thing was great for when you needed shards, would boost the perspective markets for said crafts too.

    The only reason to use food is when crafting or for the 3% exper. You can get the 3% exper from vendor trash.

    HQ 5% exper and base it on level. If you are killing 45 mobs, then you need better food to get an experience buff. This way people won't just buy the cheapest available.

    As for the Shard issue, I've complained about that all I am going to complain. Right now on Sargatanas, Lightening shards are selling for the same price as Lightening crystals. There's a reason. Square know what the reason is. I don't know why shards were gimped off the way they were. No reason was given.

    Food is great, its like an extra piece of gear! Also, you CAN make a decent amount of gil, you just have to pay close attention to the markets, and don't be fooled by crafting level (meaning: low level synths can be highly profitable, especially if you HQ them). The one thing I would like to see is a wider variety of buff types, and also food that is more situation-specific (like, i dunno, +10 wind resistance, magic evasion, debuff protection...stuff like that). Something that would give lower level foods a purpose, instead of this "tiered" system. It would be a 'spikey' market but at least there'd be movement.

    Food should get a buff. If it exists in the game as an enhancement, SE should make it worth using, often, if not all the time. HQ should get an increase in duration from 30m to an hour. That could be a good start right?

    For me, gathering and crafting the food isnt the issue. Its the Market. Every idiot that puts something up to sell drops the price by half and eventually its not worth making for profit.
    Great for buyers.
    Bad for crafters.

    So .. i just stopped.

    I agree food needs to be better for more to buy it. I have never bought food from the MB @ all. The few times i did use food, i bought it for cheaper @ the shops. Some people mark the prices too high, and i'm very cheap when i spend, so i'll even look around for better prices even if it saves me a few hundred gil.

    Another issue is losing food after death. So your character suddenly throws up after being KO'ed or what? I usually run dungeons through dutyfinder, and as a healer the death rate seems to be high for some rediculous reason. So i feel why use food if i'm only going to die anyways. The only time i do usually use food on healer is when it was from a Leve quest.
