Not sure about other stat potions, but intelligence potions during one of my BLM's nuking frenzies with raging strikes makes him very unpopular with tanks lol.

If food actually lasted through death, people would see the value in food and buy it more.

I agree with this. In a game that relies so heavily on a player matching system, that often times you get paired with players new to an instance or just not that skilled, I think it would be an excellent change to make food last through a KO. There's just too much chance for death and therefore wasted gil.

the sad thing is, the best way for a culinarian to make money is to sell HQ foods that are meant to be turned in for leves :\

Food should last the entire duration of a DF instance and not when you wipe in the first 5 minutes.

Because the buffs are so trivial its barely noticable. 3-8% buffs is pathetic, at the high end, food typically only buff 3-4% as well.

As soon as SE fix the food system so that it gives 20-25% buffs like in FF11, you shall see massive demand for it from everyone, people leveling up will want to use to speed up kills, normal dungeon runners will use it, quicker run times etc and raiders will absolutely require the best. Obviously content needs to scale up in difficulty a bit to adjust. But the current system is underwhelming.

The community needs to put more thought into these discussions. Let me point something out for the community members.

If you increase the buff duration from the consumables, you have to understand that people who were using your goods will now buy less because the buff is now prolonged. Others who feel that it maybe significant now, will also buy some but due to the extended buff duration, they too will only buy a few. You may not even notice an increase in demand for consumables. You even face the chance of having your market plummet further.

Food buffs are significant regardless the percentage. If you are a serious raider you will know that the significance of consumable buffs is apparent when everyone in your raid also uses consumables because all those extra stats buildup. It may appear insignificant by yourself but overall it is ALOT when used appropriately.
