If you read the thread (which you did not), you'd see he wants them for vanity gear. Yeesh at people who skip to the last page and ask a question already asked 129012901 times.
I think you are missing the picture here. You see, him getting what he wants using gold will invite others to do the same. The price to be carried in Coil will be the cost of a kidney and half a lung, your average joe would like to have the same privilege as this rich crafter and then go ahead and buy himself nice amount of gold from RMT using his mumy CC. Economy get destroyed because lets face it, there were a lot of players who bought gold just to get HQ crafted gear, what do you think they would do to get Coil drops? That is a totally different problem though. Which I find hilarious. They want at least full DL with Relic for WP/AK...or worse, Relic for Titan/Garuda HM.
OT, I still don't see a problem with it. I wouldn't do it but I think this whole "but it impacts you in the long run!" and this "social" impact you speak of are overly exaggerated and negligible at best. TLDR, it's not that deep or serious, let him blow his money how he wants.(which he clearly has no interest in actually doing the content, he just wants to look badass while doing his crafting, which OK in my book)
There is also the problem of achievements in this game. Many of us play the game competitively, wither you agree or disagree is not the point but Mr.baddie running around with the same gear as every good player is unacceptable. The content is meant to be challenged and played not skipped. Behemoth server alone have many running around with relics in AF 1 gear. I personally had to test new players whom want to join our FC in Titan just to confirm they actually earned their relic and won't give my FC mates a headache in Coil.
Why dont you just wait till someone sells a character on ebay who got everything in his inventory already? You have to do nothing anymore then, just stand around to show off stuff u bought instead of earning it /sarcasm
Really, why do you need this Gear? Seems like youre unable to beat any content by yourself, so theres no need to be well equipped.
No i just think he's being a asinine imbecile and i'm glad everyone else points it out.I'm still trying to figure out why you and so many other people here care so much when it has zero impact on you. Yea you might not agree with it and it's not something that you or I would do, but it's his gil and he can spend however he damn well pleases, within acceptable boundaries of the games(not breaking any ToS rules) which he isn't. If he's willing to pay and a FC is willing to carry, why are you getting your panties in such a bunch over it? What I find pathetic is your bitching about his choices which again, have no impact on you or what you do.
aleast some legacy player don't act way he acting want on silver plate and i argee that player need tested on they skills
And this is why I have not joined an FC in this game: I am tired of people who think a game is a job and guilds who require you to prove themselves with either a resume or some sort of in-game test. It does not matter if their personality sucks as long as they know how to play, right? RIGHT!
Back in the old days, games used to be...games. Now they are JOBs. One mess up and it's out the door you go! FIRED! <insert insults here>
Can you blame people for simply paying ingame currency to avoid that crap entirely? I can't, I can already see the attraction just by the replies.
p.s. I raided hardcore for 9 years, now I think I am done. The drama, the guild implosions, the pure out right change in people's personalities (for the worst) once they get 'geared' makes me ill.![]()

it nothing wrong test people who do hardcore raids. to each player group they enjoy something different
You could always find an FC that doesn't require that. To be honest I haven't seen many FCs on my server that have you fill out a resume.
