Someone have a materia "exact" allocation? something like what it is at the start of this thread but for DoH.

I'm hoping ddaydj still reads this because I have a question regarding some of the materia choices that confuse me a little. Here's what I originally planned out when looking into melding:

Taking the base melds on the gloves for example:
Why did you pick 2 Guerdon II (+4 each) over one Guerdon IV (+8)?Code:Botanist’s / Miner’s Gloves Gathering +8; Perception +4 Gatherer’s Guerdon Materia II Gatherer’s Guerdon Materia II
Has this to do with availability/price or is there a statscap per slot? I have little knowledge of melding so far so I am genuinely curious.
As I'll be getting Botany and Mining to 50 tonight I plan to deck myself out in full HQ, I have the cash for the gear through fishing but I'm now working on a plan to meld the gear to at least the recommended stats and move on from there and I 'd like to calculate in advance how much gil I'll have to save up for that.

The idea behind my melds is that I get 600 GP from accessories and then I can ignore it on all other pieces. I'm not sure about your server, but on mine T4 gathering materia are around 300k each and there are pretty much none on market.
I haven't checked my doc for errors since I finished my melds for personal gear. If people are going to use it as a reference though I'll go ahead and fix any mistakes. I know I need to correct the gathering cap on the bracelet. I was also going to add something for the offhand, but I still need to figure out the gathering cap. Right now I'm burning all my gil trying to meld Vanya (so much gil gone in seconds...).

Thank you for the clarification.
And yes, you are right. The IV materia are indeed rare and bloody steep compared to their lower counterparts.
I was curious is all.
Right now I have only had a friend meld my gear so far as getting at 340 gathering for the unspoiled node caps.
I am now leveling my crafting jobs so that I don't have to make my friends constantly apologize to me for blowing up forbidden melds even though the risks are all mine to take.

A little correction about Militia Bracelets for the OP, Gathering cap is 4 not 3.
Also not too sure if it was mentioned, but the Perception cap (as in max amount of Perception possible with materia) is 387, no room for any more on my Miner.
As of right now my stats are:
- GP 600 (stopped adding more GP when I reached that sweet spot)
- Gathering 376
- Perception 387

Nice efforts. It all needs to be factored into the effective caps though.
In my experience, Gathering caps at 340 (hidden), basically meaning there is zero point to raising Gathering above 340 because it provides no further benefits. Try temporarily raising it with food and see.
GP, will unless you can hit 630 (to then reach 650 after 4 strikes) then you may as well settle at either 580, or 600GP for convenience.
Higher perceptions than 320 do help to raise the HQ chance on unspoiled nodes though, so feed all remaining material into that (if so desired).
I guess what I'm saying is this, it's nice to know the melding caps, but don't bust a nut trying to figure out the caps on Gathering and GP, because beyond a certain point raising them is effectively useless.
Great information in this thread though.

just logged in to tell you THANK YOU *bows*

Matoya: And that should give you a notion of how sick and tired I was of those spineless wretches of the Forum. All talk and no trousers, that lot.
