Housing is a cosmetic gil sink period. Just like anything else cosmetic that has no baring on your characters stats. Based on what you are saying we should start some petitions for the barber to give + stats based on the haircut you chose otherwise that is just a wasteful gil sink as well. I mean wheres my motivation to change my hair style come on.

Only 3 minions are gil sinks. The other Minions are gil redistributors.

But any you buy from an NPC I would consider a gil sink, and I have seen more than 3 of those, I think it is more like 10 but since I don't have them all I can't be sure.

The ones that require tomestones you could argue are gil neutral, since you have to pay for gear repairs, but with the changes to dungeons that isn't as big of an issue anymore.

Any that require seals are also a bit of a sink, how much depends I suppose on how you acquired the needed seals....

I'd like to know. Been trying to get my bf to go to a different barber and change his hairstyle for months.

Player housing in every MMO is a money sink.

It's still really fun when done right (I love EQ2's system). But the only way you should look to make money off of it is not the house itself, but making/selling furniture.
