    This is my personal opinion only--I loved FATEs and didn't mind FATE grinding when leveling my first job, but that was back before the zerg parties caught on. Quarrymill had a couple dozen players zerging at that point. Now that Quarrymill (and most FATE locations thereafter) contain so many characters that I can't see the ground, the sense of FATE'ing because it is fun has been totally replaced with the sense of tagging mobs because tagging mobs.

    You need a healer for the zerg? Just level up your conjurer a few levels for cure and that should be enough self sustain unless you over extend past the zerg.

    I think you're misunderstanding this discussion. You made a snarky comment to the guy playing a Drg about levelling times while leaving out the pertinent fact your FC friends had a pocket healer on call.

    It's clearly ludicrous to suggest levelling Cnj and tossing out a few weak heals with a tiny MP pool, while sacrificing time damaging the target, is going to be anywhere near as optimal as being able to forego any considerations about defense while being healed externally.

    They should change how party rewards work when you're in a FATE. Gold/Silver/Bronze EXP should be based on individual performance. Seals (and to a smaller extent Gil) can be based on party performance. Chains can still work the way they do now. This way you encourage people to look at dungeons or mob chaining (which is 10x more fun and interesting that than most FATES...) as alternatives, and people who rely on FATES for seals can still do so. Mob chaining will also teach you how to play effectively in a party. Obviously this will lead to people hogging mob spawn areas, but eventually it will spread out. Delivery FATES also need work. It's dumb that I can just stand around and obtain items because fellow party members slayed monsters which allows me to hand in. This should also be rebalanced to so that the hand-in:reward ratio is scaled according to how many people in your party are taking part in the instance.

    A) Fate grinding is so easy you shouldn't need a healer much less a pocket healer.
    B) Fate grinding is so easy and fast you shouldn't take more than 4 days to hit level 34 through fate grinding. Which is all I said on my comment to the dragoon.

    I don't mean slow in general terms. I mean it is slow as in if we level every class to 50 (some people want to do this) it would literally take you years and years just to do that without FATES. I do understand it goes pretty fast with dedicated time put into running FATES but I just think it is necessary. Also think about if you put a lot of time in to level a class and then find you do not like it very much or it does not play as you hoped or they NERF your Job...you do not want to have to go through all that work again just to play something else.

    I planned on doing just that. Endgame is not a requirement and after raiding for 11 years in MMOs, I am done with it. I wanted to see the main scenario to its end and I have done so for the time being. SE has stated that the main scenario is not yet over and they will be adding on to it in due time. I will continue my progression in that regard and skip the rest.

    That's nonsense, plenty of people leveled all combat classes to 50 in 1.0 before fates even existed. It required working with linkshell members or friends, in other words teamwork, something this game lacks big time.

    Leveling in this game is way to fast across the board. People are spoiled and act all entitled to fast leveling instead of actually putting effort into the game and I honestly think it will threaten the long term viability of this game.

    People in my LS who have all jobs capped at 50 seem to have a different take on things than you. Weren't there a bunch of broken mechanics in place that could be abused to assist with levelling?
