Except for the constant cycling of names that Goldceo uses to harass the living crap out of people on Behemoth.....

I'm sure this has been said before in this thread, but just in case.

Why not just have 2 chat logs, one that's filtered to your normal needs (/tell,/fc,/ls,etc) and another that has battle info, shouts(for Mor Dhona needs), etc?

I have no problem with sellers really and I only Blacklist a-holes, not gil sellers. No point when they get deleted every week by SE(or so it seems lol)

The intent behind that comment was to strip nonsense characters that players don't use to communicate in the language their game client is in, during the transmission phase. Like Cyrillic В is not B, У is not Y, but Japanese like to use Cyrilic Д (D) as mouth characters in a lot of emoji. So the game client might be sending onlУidiotsВuУgil.com but the stripping would remove the У and В before being processed for spam filtering. This would effectively nerf the ability to use accented look-a-like characters to send url's. If a string is mostly filtered out then it's probably spam anyway when combined with the transmission rate limiting.

As for one-sided trades, the game needs to escrow direct trades/mail with new players or high values. This could be either done as limiting gil (I never had to buy anything in the game except repairs until level 40's and started working on other classes) that can be traded if the player's highest class level is more than 5 levels apart. eg, someone level 1-5 could trade with another players up to 10,000g has been traded, and then be blocked from further transactions until leveled past that point.

This is all old-hat MMORPG fraud stuff, and no game is staffed enough to deal with it, much in the way no real city ever has enough police to handle all the jaywalking and rolling stops going on at once. You either throw in passive deterrents that make it more difficult to do bad things(speed bumps (friendlist trading requirements, filters)), or you just throw down heavy handed active deterrents that a directs both good and bad activity away (eg toll booths(monthly cost) and identity checkpoints(billing address requirements/region locks))

Personally I find the problem with dealing with RMT is that company doesn't take advantage of crowd-sourcing. Even at *ecommerce site* they make use of it because of the high level of Chinese counterfeits. The problem there is that the feedback sometimes has to cross a language barrier.

Watching the RMT tells is like watching a virus evolve. Like a virus there are apparently just a few critical coding area's to focus on. Making their website largely unreadable, making what they are selling largely unreadable, and making what they are selling it for largely unreadable.

I agree, there are so many more choices that SE has to help control this effort, and being able to rely on the amount of people reporting the issues should be a much better-working system since its pretty clear that the devs lack the resources to police all these worlds. I'm just primarily curious, because I'm not seeing any information on it, about what the exact plan of action that they follow when attempting to limit the gil sellers? What other resources could they need to make sure that they are able to handle the volume of reports coming in?

I've blacklisted and reported so many people now, and spent so much time doing so, I'm starting to get lazy in how I deal with them because it never seems to get taken care of. I've filled half of my blacklist in the last few weeks, and in doing so I've only noticed about 4-5 characters deleted from the server. It seems to me that there should have been much, much more. As a result, I begin choosing my battles by only reporting the shout spamming bots, and only blacklisting the bots that are sending tells... Because the reporting process is tedious and takes time. When I saw target teleport movements on botted characters that were exploiting gathering spots, I even got pushback on the GM feedback I took the time to submit, advising me that I had to take extra steps through the website to report those. That tells me that folks on the other side are not taking this seriously, and are not interested in researching the issues.

So again... What is the plan? What steps are the devs taking that are so much better than all of our suggestions? Because really, I'm not seeing how anything is resulting in action, or how resources are actually being used efficiently.
I don't blame folks for giving up, or dropping the game... because a lot of people know how much damage RMT can do to a game's economy. If they want more resources, I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that wouldnt mind taking extra steps if they know something is being done about it.

I guess SE didn't learn from all of the people who quit FF11 because of the rampant gold seller spamming.

Lets "assume" that this game is for the purpose of generating as much revenue as possible. Ok thinking along money making lines......I mean connect the dots people, they're losing subs from people because of it yet they refuse to do anything about it.

Wonder where they're making up that money?

ALSO to those saying SE is deleting these spam accounts, I'd love to see the proof of this besides their "hey we banned lots of people" posts. I say this because my B-list has over 100 names in it and only 5 have been banned. I copy/paste the list of names daily and send in tickets.

Well I said it, because I had a list of 50+(early game) and I barely had 5 left and that's when I decided to stop putting them in there, as it was a waste of my time.

But...I hate to hear you say that, that sucks and is not good

I hope you(and others) effort will pay off for the community sometime soon!

How was this not taken care of already?! And when I hit escape while I am typing I expect it to CLEAR what I was typing and then decided not to say when I hit escape. But nope, gotta go delete it or backspace it. Beautiful game with a broken chat log.
There is no way in hell that the only reason you cancelled your subscription, simply, based on Gold Seller spam!

The easiest way to prevent this kind of spam is to implement a time limit on consecutive posts, make it so that you can't post more than 2 posts every 5 to 10 sec and you'll instantly see a decrease in the amount of spam in general chat
