FALSE, I much prefer to play with a controller with all my pc games and many others agree with me. Don't force people into something just because you don't like it.I don't think this update was necessary considering theres no date for PS3, they do not have to cater for controllers people decided to buy the PC version use a keyboard and mouse. They should not be releasing updates that disappoint the dwindling community, right after they showed a glimmer of hope to recovery with the battle system outlines but alas here we are back on the street gutter.
I do think it was unecessary to call this a "patch" since it was barely a change at all.

Finally! Now the game is E3 ready

Try again, sweetheart. Coding UI with all of the server confirmations currently in FFXIV and ensuring you don't crash servers left and right isn't as easy as drawing with crayons or whatever it is you do in your spare time.Do I detect a hint of sarcasm?
Anyways,
UI team and Battle team are two separate entities. Not to mention, from a coding standpoint, ridiculously easy to implement
I'm kidding. About the crayon part.
This is just going to get locked too with any luck.

Its against rules to post screenshots and stuff and tbh a lot are minor changes (but ofc the whole file has to be replaced). Theres new sounds for some gears, new textures for like Robes/Doublets, changes to idle animations for all weapons, new sounds have been added for unimplemented mobs (eg Gargoyle).I hope your right. If you've never had to reinstall then since Dec we have gotten 1.3 gb's worth of data. If you reinstall completley, then from September total updates have been 1.21 :P Just saying. Can you show us some stuff???
I also can't wait for the battle changes and the jobs, it's going to be very nice
Have to see what happens in June and no doubt ffxivpro will post if any new items.
Why isn't targeting just A: All, B: Enemies Only, C: Friendlies Only. Am I missing something here? Why make it so obtuse?

Hi All,
I wouldn't say I'm "happy" with 1.17b (probably the opposite), but as many have said in a previous thread, was I surprised it'd be like this? No.
I think there are definitely some under-the-hood updates we've gotten - maybe some new Textures, Geometry, etc. - to help ease the burden of the massive 1.18 Patch Download coming in a few weeks.
In terms of presenting this in a better light, I'm not sure if it would be good (or bad) to state what we got. Would people prefer if SE came out and said in the Patch 1.17b Notes:
* Part 1 - New Textures, Geometry for R30 Dungeon.
* Part 1 - New Textures, Geometry for R50 Dungeon.
* Part 1 - New Items, Weapons, Armor (to be unlocked in Patch 1.18)
?
Not sure. I guess on the one hand, SE wants to be discreet, but they should realize that their own approved Fan Sites (like YG and FF Pro) already will data mine and immediately post New Items added with every patch, so it's not like they're spoiling any surprise.
On the other hand, maybe something like the above would give some of the naysayers some glimmer of hope, that the 3 Hour Maintenance and the download was "worth" something more than just a Targeting Mode fix and some Bug fixes.
Actually, I happen to enjoy my crayons when i'm not working, you know, as a game programmer. I do lots of UI work. There is no reason it should be that difficult. It shouldn't work any differently than how <p1> or <p2> work, and there is definitely no need for it to go through the network ( although knowing SE... they'll find a reason ). It's simply a string parse, recognizes the command, access the targeting system, modifies how it searches. Obviously they already have the line parser in place, and hell, we already have the system in the game that <stpc> and <stnpc> require with the all/ally/enemy targeting system. All the command needs to do is modify that....Try again, sweetheart. Coding UI with all of the server confirmations currently in FFXIV and ensuring you don't crash servers left and right isn't as easy as drawing with crayons or whatever it is you do in your spare time.

I don't claim to know how Crystal Tools works, but from a visual standpoint in my head, I just don't get why we don't have simple things like that.
