I hope SE can take a fucking hint. These updates are complete insults to the players.
So fixing the UI is as simple as fixing the targeting? I don't think we are talking about the same thing here. Clearly you shouldn't require server confirmation on target, just on claim. Usually battle and UI teams are separate, but in my experience, they have to work hand in hand for MMOs, as the UI team needs to grasp how combat is going to be before coding up junk.Actually, I happen to enjoy my crayons when i'm not working, you know, as a game programmer. I do lots of UI work. There is no reason it should be that difficult. It shouldn't work any differently than how <p1> or <p2> work, and there is definitely no need for it to go through the network ( although knowing SE... they'll find a reason ). It's simply a string parse, recognizes the command, access the targeting system, modifies how it searches. Obviously they already have the line parser in place, and hell, we already have the system in the game that <stpc> and <stnpc> require with the all/ally/enemy targeting system. All the command needs to do is modify that....
Also, to fix targeting you need better mouse controls. It's really that plain and simple. I don't think it's an easy hurdle, but I think it's because Crystal Tools is supposedly highly complex and unstable.
ENCORE.GUILDWORK.COM
I never said that. I simply said there are simple to implement, convenient methods, that we should have but do not.
Holds true for any combat based game in existence.
Who uses a mouse? I never had an issue with XI targeting, but this game makes me cringe.
I guess "B" stands for bullshit.
Not that I'm discrediting any of you...
...but I love how everyone on this forum is a game developer. It's fng awesome. ^^
I LOL everytime someone says it.
I'd drink a beer for each time, but I have some responsibilities I need to stay mostly sober for through out the day.
Have another sip because I am too. I'm too embarrassed to admit to any of the co-workers I'm following this train wreck.
I can't comment the code side as I know nothing about it but the art team must be on a very long weekend. They can't sketch up and model any substantial new mobs nor gear in 7 months?! You people must be kidding me. Every single 3d modeler I know has produced more content BY THEMSELVES than the entire SE art department since XIV's launch.
The only exception is Akihiko Yoshida. That guy has worked his ass off on THREE games at the same time.
If only that other Yoshida could be as motivated to make the staff do some actual work.
I feel sick thinking how these guys get monthly salary for doing next to nothing for months.
