I don't understand how a game can decline when it's still in the same state it was (for the most part) when it was released. We're still in 2.0, people.
We are, however 2.0 did not live up to the expectations. As yoshi said, the game starts at 50; which is apparently 1 hr a week.
So much to do don't have time to complain, but I have a life so haven't capped all content nor finished binding coil. Should be in coil by mid November. Very excited. The game started off good but it just took a nose dive into the boring, easy and dull zone. From what I am reading on forums and when I last played the game it seems FF14 is starting to die. Square might say they have a ton of subs but alot of the player base is just not playing there accounts and waiting for there subs to end. Its bound to happen when you make a game that plays exactly like every other mmo on the market.
this game is far from dead, you can see ppl in every main city..not just 1...3 cities full of ppl 24/7
in 1.0 it was uldah only and 2 ghost cities
HeavensWard theme song lyrics:
-"We can [Stance]dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
Cause your friends don't [Stance]dance
And if they don't [Stance]dance
Well they're no friends of mine"
Say what you will, but it's still not a "decline" and that's all that I wanted to point out. The game is still the same way it is when it released. When we enter 2.1, people can begin talking about declines all they want. It'll at least make sense then.
Never said it was in decline yet, however I think the amount of time people are playing has dropped significantly which is not good. Eventually people will question is there is enough content for them in the game if they log in for a few hours a week and could possibility move to a new title. Lots of titles on the horizon.
Why am I bored running Fates? As a DPS trying to get into an instance takes ages. So I get into a Fate Group to speed it up. Which is really boring. I try to watch movies on my other monitor but then I just think, why even play the game?
Why do I do these things? I had 5 buddies start the game with me. I am now the only one that plays. One moved back to GW2, 2 went back to WoW, another is playing a ton of Steam games and the last one plays most of everything except for FF. I got into an FC but it was horrible. Left it and tried another one and there was nothing interesting going on. Mostly stupid conversation and people insulting people. My experience with the game has been degrading daily. After I completed the main story, there's no direction or focus. I feel I'm playing because I already paid and, somewhat, invested in the game. Maybe this post is my wake up call to just let it go.
Lmfao i can literally name a dozen titles with these things besides the whole all classes on one character. Just cause you decided to take everyone elses gimmicks and throw it in to one game does not make it unique. And crafting classes as actual classes is just false. They did away with that in the transition to 2.0-What other mmo allows you to be every class on one character?
-What other mmo made crafting classes like actual classes?
-What other mmo has fates, a Duty Finder, and all the other traditional ways to level (some have one or the other, but not all of them)?
-What other mmo has the graphics FFXIV has with all the features it has?
-What other mmo has all that and a gear dye system?
-What other mmo has a good story on top of all of that?
etc,
The game's not perfect by far, but with a few content/fix/feature patches they can make this game a true Gem.
