Nearly 50, would like a second Job, how viable is it stat wise?

Hey peeps,

Just about to hit 50 on my SMN and have also got SCH running alongside it. How viable is it to have both jobs stat wise? I get that one is Intelligence based and the other Mind, but i've spread my bonus stat points evenly across both of them to try and be able to play both jobs as my FC needs at endgame.

Is this viable? Or do I need to single stat boost?

I think its viable, just, obviously not optimal. You will, however need 2 sets of gear, one of heals and one for dps.

From what I can tell the points you add to stats on one job have no effect on others that you decide to level.

The points on one class are separate from the points on another class. Since SMN and SCH both share ACN as their class, they also share the same pool of bonus points.

To the OP, it's not that big a deal. Pretty much every ACN with an interest in both jobs splits their points evenly. I've never seen anyone ranting about those 15 missing points. I mean, some ACNs wishing they could max based on the job, but being reasonable about it, and nobody ranting at a SMN/SCH about splitting their points.

Seems that 30 MND gives 30-40 more to heals. Don't know about INT.
And VIT can also be interesting, don't know how much it would give per point.

I find it perfectly viable to use both jobs, those 30 points unless used in STR will not be wasted.

It is all about your personnal taste, if you are a Min/Max then no, otherwise enjoy healing or DPSing as you see fit

You will be just fine with both stats split. Eventually your gear will overtake any difference those 15 points would have made between you vs. another SMN or SCH.

Currently I have 4 points spent in vitality, and the rest split between mind and intelligence evenly, at the moment I think it's like 10 points difference between splitting them and boosting one on its own.

I have 10 on smner and 20 on SCH. I may just switch full SCH. I don't play smner much. Many people I know go 10/20 or just 15/15.

you may also want to look at Cleric Stance, i think it is a cross class skill from Cnj, available to WHM and SCH

Not a terribly good fix, unfortunately. The general idea, I guess, would be to pour all your points into INT and then you'd activate the stance in SCH to heal rather than nuke, as it puts all your boosted INT to MND. Problem is, it's still gimping your Cures by 20%. It would work much better if you could use Stance as SMN, but, alas, you can't.
