So you want the system changed because you lost an expensive (2) materia's? Really Im sorry we all make mistakes, just deal with it and move on. We dont need a more forgiving system, what we need is for players to just deal with the mistake they made and move on, and not complain about a system that dose work just fine, because you lost gil for not paying attention to what you was about to do.

Its nothing like that but to come and cry or complain about a system that works, because you made a mistake and it hit you in your wallet shouldnt happen. It is just gil you can make more of it easily, there is no reason to change a system just because its an inconvience on your in game wallet, when you made the mistake of melding the wrong materia in the 1st place for whatever reason/s you have.

This reminds me of the guy or gal who posted that he wanted his myth tomes back because he bought a pld head piece instead of the relic upgrade item. Mistakes happen but if SE changes something everytime a player makes a mistake than whats the point. Best advice and (yes its a hard lesson) is learn from your or whoever makes whatever mistake.

I'm looking at the head, not the body actually as it happens, my mistake.

I have 5 control and 4 craftsmanship in materia on the headpiece and both are capped. Can't ad any CP whatsoever, so i have 2 slots for materia that can't be practically used for anything other than VIT really, unless INT still matters to a goldsmith at all (it is still their highest stat, though i've been told the main stats are totally irrelevant in ARR)

Its worth pointing out you can't add any CP to any of the pieces that have +3 CP.

Let me ask you this questions, you get HQ ilv70 gear made and meld it to be the best it can be currently for you. You get some other ilv90 part, and this changes something so you should change 2 materia to be best you can be. If you want to make this change why cant you just drop 2 materia (any 2, 1 at a time) and remeld the extra 2 and be done. You shouldnt need to clear all 5 and start over. This is all the OP is really saying, he just used a derp moment an an example of one way you might want to remeld.

My old Coil BLM had to change a few melds for acc after getting his coil body to meet cap, just 2 changes and had to clean all and start over which was really not needed as 3/5 were kept the same.

Perfect example of how the materia system should work in regards to min-maxing stats! It's not like letting someone remove only one materia at a time (as opposed to all of them at once) makes the re-melding any more difficult. You still have just as much chance to fail melding on those extra slots. It just makes the whole system a billion times more useful and less headachey.
